TOPIC: Newbie question alert! What's a Reserve Bar?

Newbie question alert! What's a Reserve Bar? 15 years 1 week ago #1

I see them mentioned in the post entitled Trade Item and Reserve Token Information (Updated 07-May-2010), but I have not a single clue what they are and was hoping someone could shed some light on it for me.

=D

Thanks!

Reserve bars are basically bars of different metals that have different values in gold. They are mainly used to turn in lots of smaller coin/gems/jewlery into larger denominations, and have to used during the yearly auctions.

Trade items are basically 25 of a random item type. So, you send 25 random common weapons to Dave, and he sends you back a Dwarven steel.

Reserve Bar Tokens: In order to make True Dungeon wealth more portable and to aid in collection and counting of gold during transactions, we have introduced Special reserve Tokens. These tokens are not printed with a year marker and the name and border are printed in special dark red or burgundy ink. There are currently six denominations of reserve Tokens represented by bars of precious metals. These tokens will not be part of any year's collection.
I.e., you can trade in lots of small GP value denomination tokens for fewer large denomination GP value tokens. It's like exchanging 1,000 pennies for a ten dollar bill.

Trade Item Tokens: In order to supply the ongoing was with Iuz (and to allow collectors another trade avenue for more common tokens), Greyhawk had opened up the coffers of strategic reserve materials and instructed commissioned traders to trade for common and uncommon weapons and armor.
Somewhat similar in concept to Reserve Bars, Trade Item Tokens allow you to exchange large quantities of tokens you may have no use for into specialized tokens which are then used to make certain combo items. Originally just set up to exchange Common or Uncommon items, recently Trade Tokens were expanded to also allow for the exchange of Rare tokens as well.

See this thread or the Token Guide for details on exactly what items can be traded for Trade Item Tokens. Read the "Constructed Trade (Combo) Tokens" section in the Token Guide for details on what Combo Tokens are.

Another question (if the OP doesn't mind me appropriating the thread).

What counts as gear/items for the Darkwood? Does Ammo count? What about weapons/armor; can those be traded for Darkwood instead of the normal weapon/armor trades?

It is generally anything listed in the Gear and Miscellaneous Items sections of the Token Guide.

Unless policies have changed, neither Weapons nor Armor can be traded for Darkwood Planks.

For Trade purposes, Ammo is neither Gear nor Weapon. Hopefully there will someday be a Trade Item for Ammo/Projectiles because I have stacks of that stuff.

Last year, Dave said:
I have not talked ot Jeff about it yet, but I am thinking I will request to add two more trade items next year. Some of the possibilities include:
1. Liquids (potions, water, etc.)
2. Ammo/projectiles (bullets, arrows, bolts)
3. Rings

There are quite a few people who like to stock up on those missile weapons, so you can probably trade them away or sell them as a bundle on e-Bay. They also get used as combo ingredients from time to time. I think last year had a recipe that called for 10 Masterwork Arrows, and Dave allowed the use of missile weapons in an alternate recipe last year.
