TOPIC: XP error on Escape the Crypt HC

We played on HC and my XP for the event is only 850.

Yes, I heard from several people at the con that hardcore was worth more xp than normal.

However, the policy in the past was always that 4 room dungeons were worth a max of 850 regardless of difficulty.

I think the concern is that these dungeons are targeted toward new players to give them a more affordable introduction into TD and they were trying to avoid situations where veteran players would coerce new players into hardcore just for the xp.

I know experience was different between the difficulty levels. On normal I think it was possible to survive room 4. On hardcore I know that as of about 530pm on Saturday not one group had survived hardcore.

Having said all that I'd love for hardcore to have more xp. I'm just not sure that would be a good decision.

That’s incorrect though. Hardcore earns 1650 plus 50 per room. So a 4 room dungeon, if you make it to the last room, is 1850. Doesn’t matter if you survive the last room. This is just an error on their end which needs corrected.

I'm pretty sure it was stated prior to the convention that XP would be the same regardless of difficulty, same as it typically is when 4 rooms give xp. HC on sealed is done for challenge alone.

The error is fixed now, and old codes should work now.

We were not super-clear about how XP would be done for this event, so we will keep it as is. NEXT time, I hope to remember to say XP is the same for Normal or Hardcore. We don't want to encourage vets to pressure newbies into playing Hardcore. Thanks for your understanding.

There were definitely some folks playing hardcore in Escape the Crypt that did not have a good understanding of basic game mechanics and did not appear to be veteran players. I hope they weren't coerced into playing a higher difficulty level.
