I think yahoo has a setting that if someone doesn’t actually own the player for a certain period of time before dropping the go back to being a free agent instead of waivers again to avoid that abuse.

I have been in leagues where that happened. One of the 2 or 3 things that can kill a league. If we are 100% certain that setting exists I'd be fine with it, but I would want to be 100%

We have had 9 league members chime in on the change in roster construction. 8 (myself included) support or are indifferent to eliminating K/Def, 1 supports elimination of K but not Def, 3 have not responded. That is a 2/3's majority for removing K/Def and adding another flex spot (RB/WR/TE). I think it's fair that majority rules so this will be updated prior to the draft next Sunday. If we feel this needs to be a more official vote we can do that but I think what's in the forum thread currently should suffice.

On the order of Waiver claims and the need for quick pick ups prior to game time. Here is the explanation of waiver settings from Yahoo:

"Use these settings to give everyone in the league a fair chance at picking up players.

Sunday - Tuesday: All un-rostered players will be placed on waivers at 10:00am PT each Sunday with the claim period ending at 11:59pm PT on Tuesday.

First game of the week - Tuesday: All un-rostered players will be placed on waivers at the start of the first game for that week with the claim period ending at 11:59pm PT on Tuesday.

Game Time: All un-rostered players will be placed on waivers at the scheduled start time of their game. In Game Time Waivers, players on a bye week will be placed on waivers Monday night at 5:30pm pacific time.

Continuous: All un-rostered players are on waivers at all times. Waiver claims are processed on fixed days of the week as defined by the commissioner. When a player is dropped, he must remain on waivers for a set number of days before he can be claimed; that number of days is indicated by the Waiver Time setting.

None: Players not subject to the league's waiver rules remain free agents throughout the week. Players must be added to a roster by 11:59 PM, PT Sunday to be eligible for the current game week.

Note that while changing your waiver rule or continuous waiver clear days during the season are allowed, changing either setting can lead to confusing or unexpected behavior. In particular, if your league has any outstanding waiver claims on players, or has players on waivers due to being dropped or newly added to the game, when you transition between modes or change clear days, players may not clear waivers when you might predict or expect."

help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN6811.html This link goes to a description of what happens when using standard waivers and FA. Currently the league was set to continuous waivers (as described above). I believe if we change the waiver priority setting to something other than Continuous we would have access to all unclaimed players as FA prior to kick off on Sunday. I'm certainly interested in feedback on this item and confirmation that my assertion is correct.

Yeah I’m completely fine with using the free agent system after the initial waiver period each week.

League Update.

Roster construction has been updated in Yahoo. Def and K have been removed with the majority of the league agreeing. Those spots have been replaced with an additional FLEX (RB/WR/TE) spot and an additional bench spot has been. This should allow more than enough flexibility to account for sudden changes that might occur prior to kickoff.

The waiver system has been left unchanged. Waiver requests will process 3 times a week with the last one occurring at noon on Sunday. Please remember the following per yahoo, "Players must be added to a roster by 11:59 PM, PT Sunday to be eligible for the current game week." This means no FA adds after 11:59 on Sunday. This shouldn't be an issue with the additional roster spots and your managerial thinking caps. Be prepared.

Let's start talking token buys! This year the UR's don't have an obvious choice to me as there are no treasure pulls this year. I think we want to pre-order as it gets us a better chance at a golden ticket, but I'm not against ordering after the season and letting the winners have a true PYP. We have 5 chosen URs coming between the 1K grip and a 250 bundle.

I would vote we agree on 5 different URs and pre-order. Everyone could submit their votes for 5 tokens and the ones with the majority are what I select.

What do you all think?

I am ok with waiting on the order or with selecting in advance. Worst case, to get the advantage of pre-order benefits, we could just pick the Beads of Bounty and/or the new greaves. Both of those have the highest demand and ability to trade for any other yearly item.
What do we want? Evidence based science! When do we want it? After peer review!

I think if we can all get 5 token nominations in before end of Nov, we can take advantage of the pre-order benefits. Although I agree with Fred that the Beads of Bounty and Greaves will probably be on everyone's list.

FWIW here are my nominations :
Beads of Bounty
Greaves of the Stalwart
Charm of the Ancients
Boots of Brawling
+2 Savage Sword
