Could be, with this being the 50th Anniversary.
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

At least the old way I felt like I had a chance and was let down immediately. This is like slowly ripping off a bandaid while you helplessly watch not even having a chance.

I don't know why there are even times after 4pm. All the DT hotels are likely to be gone in the next few minutes. No reason to delay people after they are gone. Instead you are just prolonging the disappointment.

As an optimist, I would remind you all that Mike posted several ways to get downtown outside of the block.

I hope you all get what you want.

Correct but those don't sell out. So everyone that gets a time after 4pm. Should just become first come first serve imo.

Actually, what often happened with us with the old system would be that we'd click the button at noon, have the GENCON reservation system crash, and then spend a couple of hours trying to get online, and every once in awhile get close enough to see the rooms disappearing before it crashed again. So both systems had issues. At least with the new system, it's spaced out enough that it shouldn't crash.

Well, a lot of those do sell out. I think by the end of the day last year the closest you could get was 13 miles away or something.

I do agree with those that have said that people shouldn't give up if they can't get a room today. Rooms do come available sometimes, although you need to check pretty frequently to have a decent shot at one.
