I hit the line at 11:30PM Wednesday last year and it was still a half-hour wait. The line was actually shorter when I went by at 9AM Thursday.

Is anyone getting a decent hotel lottery time? So far between myself and 3 of my friends our best time is 5:18pm. Mine is at 8:54pm, which seems like a total waste.

Our times are 5:18pm, 7:52pm, 8:22pm and 8:54pm

My time is 6:41 Eastern - so no luck here
And my friend's even worse - 8:46 pm

I'm glad I got a room out of block. My time is 7:27 PM, probably no good rooms available then.

Post in the Gen Con forums seems to indicate that the typical time is around 6 PM Eastern.

5:19 PM....Probably a complete waste

I do recall GENCON said in a Newsletter I think that times within the first couple of hours could expect to get a downtown connected room - implying later times might not be so fortunate. I wonder if that will still hold. I plan on checking in at my 7:27 time to see what's available - although I may find out on the forums whether the good rooms at gone long before then.

Edited to say that I just saw on the Facebook forum that somebody said GENCON said downtown housing may take 9 hours to sell out. Maybe they spaced it out a lot more than they originally planned to.

Hard to understand 9 hours. From the poll (link provided earlier) that vast majority of times were prior to 10pm. I think it's possible to have downtown rooms still available around 5pm or 6pm, but have to think they'd start to disappear around then. Do we have any feel for what % of people stay downtown?
