TOPIC: Meet at the Inn

Re: Meet at the Inn 11 years 3 months ago #169

Casually testing the spike end of my Axe I say, "We only need one of them to answer our questions Adeya. While Pelor would certainly not condone torture he delights in the how shall we say it, the elimination of evil?"

Turing towards the gypsies, "As a matter of fact I think it would delight me to facilitate a meeting between one of you and Pelor. You might want to apologize to the lady while you still have the chance. Well, at least while one of you still has the chance."

Winking at Barkley I say in a bored and flippant voice, "Pray for one of their immortal souls Barkley. I don't really care which. Just let me know which one so I don't send the wrong one to his just reward." more closely examining axe, "Is that another chip?"

"I shall pray for the least penitent, of course. The one who shows the most contrition and cooperation may be blessed by Pelor without my prayers.

"But surely you shall not stain this holy place with the other's blood? Perhaps we should tattoo the sign of Pelor upon his forehead, as a sign he is under a messenger's protection, and return him to his people with an ultimatum. If not, I'm sure there is a suitable alley nearby to end his corrupt life. Many paths are open to us," gesturing towards the prisoners, "and few to them."

"Of course you are correct Barkley, I would not wish to sully this place of worship with blood."

Placing hand on chin and pondering the prisoners like deep in thought for several moment before saying, "enie menie minie mo...You'll do." Grabs one of the gypsies by the collar and starts to drag him away. "Pray loudly Barkley, this might get noisy if I miss or slip."

OOC: Time for an intimidation roll Picc? Have I succeeded?

The gypsies glance quickly to the Axe then to the crackling electricity dancing about the wizards palm and finally back to one another. There is obvious fear painted across both of there faces but still as if by wordless pact they turn back to you with a look of grim resolve.

"Do your worst then" the first man hisses bracing for the blow.

"Nothing you or your God can do is a bad as the price for betraying the devil" the second man intersects never taking his eyes off the blade.

"Killing these two will do no good," brother Donavich sighs horsely, "no matter how much they fear you they will always fear the vampire more. He has had a life time to see to that."

With a crestfallen sigh, "Pelor, you test me again. I cannot murder a man unable to defend himself and I will not allow torture. When even the threat of a painful death cannot loosen a man's tongue I am at a loss for what to do next. My friends, I leave their fate in your hands so long as I do not see murder or torture."

"Well, they can do us no harm here. Their comrade, though, may have gotten away to warn their leader. Perhaps a couple of us should return to the tavern to see if our juggling friend has returned. Then, Brother Donavich, you can tell us what you know about the vampire and his followers."

With that brother Donavich clasps a hand to your shoulder and leads you towards the main chapel. "Come brother, whatever becomes of these two now is out of our hands. Let us pray for Palors guidance while your friends decide what is to be done with them. Once their fate is decided I will tell you all I know."

I prod my prisoner back into the main thoroughfare, only to find it inconveniently empty.

"I wonder where they have got to," I say as much for myself as for the gypsy, "It seems your friends were not up to keeping them engaged for very long. Were we going to the church, or Ismark's house, or straight to the vampire's castle? You were spying on us, do you remember?"

"I think you said something about going straight to hell" the gypsy offers with a thick romani accent, "though if you like I would be happy to put you on the road to the masters castle as they are one and the same..."

"Surely you don't wish to be released? The fiend will assume you cooperated with us fully. I'm sorry, my children, but it appears your fate is sealed. Whether you choose to speak to us or no, the devil will torment you to find what you may have told us. By the time he is convinced of your loyalty, it will be too late. It would have been kinder to slay you in the streets."

"But there is an alternative. Help us in our quest, for we mean to slay the fiend. When we succeed you will be free. Should we fail... Well, it sounds like you're already aware of what he is capable of doing. You'll have ample time to take your own lives to avoid his mercies. I suggest you help us as best you can, for your own sakes."

Walking away with Brother Donavich "Thank you brother. Your understanding warms this old warriors heart. My Pelor reveal his plan to us in a moment of meditation."
