Barkley looks furious. "Dammit Jim! I told you we should have gone with the Rigellian Cathouse program! I'm a doctor, not an armor-clad Friar Tuck!"

Lt. Brian touches the insignia on his chest and says, "Medical team to the holodeck. Computer, run a level-1 diagnostic on the holodeck - what is the status of the safety protocols?"

"Wesley, huh," he muses. "I'm surprised it wasn't Kerensky. He seems to get shot a lot."

En. Smith looks down at his weaponry and notices something very odd.

"Hey guys? my shotgun is a Winchester Model 1887 and we are at the O.K. Corral. That fight happened in 1881 before lever action shotguns were invented! The computer just doesn't make mistakes like that. Something is seriously wrong."

Specialist Baird looks at his hands. They are translucent and seem to phasing in and out of his view with a regular pulse.

"Do I seem solid to you guys or am I fading in and out?"

I examine all my equipment. My sawed off shotgun keeps changing from a the gun, to my dancing sword, to . . . to . . . a light saber.

"Send out the general alarm. I think . . . the sith and . . . jedi are . . . "

My words become jagged--disconnected.

"That universe . . . hates . . . Attacking again . . . Q?"

"Q? Q!? is it you that is causing all this? We're not top level command staff. Why are you picking on us?"

(Hi all, kind of just reilized I forgot to the closing post for this adventure. Sorry about that, anyway.)

Thick clouds roil overhead as the image of the reaper raises an ancient skeletal hand towards the corpse of Strahd and the mists seem to shudder and thicken in response. No sooner does it do so then you find yourself frozen in place as if time itself had stopped. In the distance you can almost hear Strahds cruel laughter rising on the wind.

Then a brilliant light flashes from behind you and you find you can move again. Wheeling towards the source of the light you recognize the spector of Sergei Von Zarovich standing over his brothers remains, clad in gleaming armor and a white cape. He holds the sunsword and his rugged features are locked in a grimace of forceful presence. He nods to you, then raises the blade surging towards the reaper as his brothers voice screams in outrage over the storm.

His feet never touch the ground as he crashes into the reaper and the pair explode into a crack of depthless silence as their image tumbles from view over the edge of the ruined tower. The wind suddenly dies and the roiling clouds begin to break open, letting glorious shafts of sunlight flood through.

As the light breaks the chill morning mists the lands of Barovia slowly become visible below as the strange fog begins to dissolve. And somehow you know death has lost it grip here, and for the first time in an age the lands of Barovia are free once more.

"I think, I've a favor to return to the gypsies. I owe them a song about our adventure, and I'm going to find that poor girl Strahd threw over the wall. I've some potions to help her. Barkley, if you would like to help, I think we can bring her back."

I begin to hum a tune.

"After that, I'm going back to the cantina in on that desert planet--you know the place where Han shot first. By the way maybe we can try one of those new programs for the holodeck. I hear they have one called True Dungeon--whatever that could be. I love to try that in August with any of you."

Thanks Picc--it was great.
