TOPIC: Meet at the Inn

I run after Widseth as fast as I can and try and get in front of him.

"Widseth, wait up! what is it? Remember there are dark forces at work, examine your thoughts!"

I start to sing (badly because I am running) the first song I heard Widseth playing in the inn hoping the memory of it will bring him back to reality.

"Does anyone have anything that can remove a curse?" I shout back to the others.

I stop and look at Delmar.

"I have a Remove Curse scroll. I don't need it any more than the rest of this land. I simply cannot abide waiting here in the darkness for him to play us like I play my lute. He is on defense now. Either we must use the wish and reassemble the sword, or I will pursue him until either he or I cease to exist. I will not wait here while he concocts other ways to play with us like rats in his trap."

I stop and blink a few times... "I just thought... well, never mind"

"Yes Widseth, I have to agree. The waiting is not something that agrees with me either. I have been trying to form the words for the wish in my head for quite some time. Unfortunately I keep coming back to the stories of The Bard himself and feel it would be the height of hubris to make or craft the wish myself."

Delmar sighs, "We all know the outcome of his stories on hubris and I would not want to be the downfall of the party."

"What do we know of the sword? Do you think we have indeed a part of it with Sergei in his crypt? Why do you suppose Strahd cannot find it himself? Delmar have you seen that or felt that in your experiences?"

"I am not sure if we have part of it or not. I think we do, something inside me tells me we do. As to Strahd, I know and can feel his fear. It is beyond what I would call fear." Delmar pauses to think, closes his eye for a moment and then proceeds. "I felt the abject terror that both Strahd and the darkness that he servers when I mentioned that I knew his greatest fear."

"What I most fear my friend Widseth, is that I will become a tool of this darkness. If I have possession of the sword I fear that it too might become tainted by what has infected me. I have no feelings other than my own thoughts on that last part. Pelor has been mute on my questions about the subject."

Delmar thinks for a moment, "If I had to craft the wish myself I would phrase it thus.

I (not going to say the word here), for all the parts of the sun sword that is so feared by Strahd and his evil master to appear before me now, at this moment, whole and assembled into its complete and fully enchanted form."

"I will leave it for others to debate the wording but I think there can be very little confusion in the way it is worded."

"Remember my friends, if the sword does not protect me from this curse I will be a deadly danger to you all. I pray to Pelor that I fall quickly if that be the case."

*OOC* Sorry - have been on vacation. I like the wording proposed by Delmar for the wish. Should we name the sword's previous owner? It was Strahd's brother, correct?

"We don't really know the sword was Sergei's. I've just been guessing that. I like the words Delmar uses. I suggest we move forward, and use the wish. Perhaps the effects of the sword will not only be of use against Strahd, but also help Delmar."

Breon takes out the scroll and unrolls it, feeling the arcane power of the words on it. He begins to read the scroll, and at the proper point, he exclaims in a firm, clear voice,

"I wish for all the parts of the sun sword that is so feared by Strahd and his evil master to appear before me now, at this moment, whole and assembled into its complete and fully enchanted form."

ooc - I wonder what would happen if someone were to "wish that this wish I am now making will fail."

ooc- The wish spell would dissolve and the hand of their particular god would slap them in the face while a voice said, "Bad human!" Or insert species of creature doing the reading.

Your head reals with possibility as you speak the words and the magic of the scroll takes form exploding out in all directions like a great wave that leaves you suddenly feeling empty and small. Half a beat later just as you are about to start wondering if the scroll did anything at all there is a blinding flash of arcane energy and the image of Strahd appears before you bathed in holy radience and swinging a blade of pure light (atk 17 dmg 8)

I walk up to the image of Strahd and look him in the eye. "Give me the Sun Sword my friend. You know it is the right thing to do. I serve Pelor and the need is great."
