I'd be 100% confident in saying Lazlo is not the source of this problem

I don't think Lazlo is the manufacturer of the fakes either, and I want to know who is/was.

I don't think Henwy is out of line. The point is not about a rush to judgement, it is about knowing the truth.

The idea of wanting to know isn't out of line, but to make an accusation with no knowledge about what is happening is out of line, which is what he did.

Maybe I missed the accusation post. Where is it.

Condemnation prior to trial only happens in Baltimore.

As far as I am aware, I have never seen a fake token. We only make about a half dozen trades per year, and I have never had reason to be unsatisfied with anyone I have traded with.

Josh - I think it's a disappointment to all of us that you got ripped with fake tokens. I wouldn't have thought anyone here would pull something like that.

The token sellers especially will be sorry this happened because it will complicate their business. It hurts TD itself because there is unavoidable credibility damage. I continue to believe that the source(s) of fake tokens should be ferreted out and at the least, identified. That is not a rush to judgement. It is simply pursuing the original cause of a problem.

While the community is small, the player base is much larger. >8000 tickets this year * many other years.

I'm hoping these are coming from outside our community.

With ebay auctions, and a forum that is open to anyone on the web to read, any casual or one-time player can figure out what are pricy tokens, and start working on fakes.

They only have to sell them to moderate players at cheap prices pretending to not know what they have.. and boom fakes are introduced to the ecosystem. Some will trickle up to the big fish token vendors.

Side note: If they're sneaky enough and willing to put the time into producing a convincing fake, I'm going to assume they're not going to take the risk of selling it directly to a big fish vendor.

I found this out by accident when a token had sat in my car under the seat for over a year. All three parts of the token had de-laminated.

Then again that token lost in my car for a year was from only a few years ago. Only older ones I have left are in my build and I am not willing to sacrifice any of them!

If you can de-laminate a token, wouldn't it be plausible to reuse the real plastic coating over a fake image?

I think the way this was posted was like a grenade. I wish some better information was posted on what made the tokens fake and I think getting to the source would be useful.

Fair enough. I show know better than to feed the off topic gravity well. Or did I fail a sarcasm detection roll?
