Depends on the sophistication of the fakes.

I think about the art world and the antiques world, where even the best experts regularly get tricked by forgeries.... but hey, maybe those "forgeries" aren't really forgeries at all and are "legit" except that they are from a parallel universe and were done by the alt version of the famous artist!

Could we get some photos of counterfeit tokens?
Maybe a side by side picture of the Real TD Token next to it's fake?

Remember that Jeff may have already instituted some anti-counterfeiting measures and it may not be in his best interest to disclose them. I am sure as some of his measures become less sophisticated or he is comfortable disclosing we will hear about them.

I am not in possession of any fakes and I haven't found one yet so I can't provide you any high resolution pictures. If Josh wants to send me some I will gladly review them and post if Jeff has no issues.

I could post the photos of my "questionable" token but since it turned out to be authentic it would just be misleading everyone.

some of them I have been able to tell based on feel...having two of the same and the paper(token image)...

last years treasure chips were obvious(poor quality)

I didn't know someone tried to counterfeit treasure coins last year. I hope this doesn't become a huge problem.

I have seen widely varying quality of tokens directly from TD, even in the same year. If this is a real issue we need a better way to tell the difference.

I have on occasion received a fake. I usually don't get too riled unless they are the pricey ones. but I have always let the person know if it is an issue. there are a couple of folks that will receive a beat down for this should I ever see them again.

if anyone gets one from me please let me know so I can ignore you and act as if it never happened.

in all seriousness, please let me know if you got one from me. I know where my trades originate from and would be more than happy to make it right. I can also provide details of where the token came from.

I'm no expert, but tokens I sent in seemed legit to me. I wasn't in the mindset of thinking they could be fake and I trusted the folks I received them from.

It all comes down to expectations and experience. If you are not expecting it then a fake can slip through even experienced hands. I know I've never questioned any of the tokens I have bought. Then again I haven't bought many that didn't come from either True Dungeon or the cadre of Big Buyers.
