I'm going to go out on a limb and say he's probably against the idea of fakes :P.

I meant more along how to tell, if there's a way to tell. :)

Being against fakes doesn't really help, when we have no real way to tell. Plus, he should comment on the statement that TD sent one to a customer.

You can't make the token a different color for URs otherwise they'd stand out in the 10-packs. But IMO for Relics and possibly the collector appreciation tokens (e.g. RoSP segments) they should have a different color. I'd love to see relics have a blue token. As this would require you to destroy a relic to create a fake relic (I think it would be hard to paint a token to match). I'm guessing this works well for legendaries and eldritch relics. But it doesn't keep somebody from changing a Rod of Niltongue into a Charm of Avarice.

And ideally I'd like to see Legendaries have unique numbers like the RoSP.

For the record (since I just purchased some rod segments and I wanted to cross-reference) he did PM me a list of where he got each token from. He asked me to keep it to myself for now. I'll respect his wishes, I assume he'll post here when he is ready.

I think I'm going to start marking the back (plastic) side of expensive tokens if I trade for them going forward so I can track where it came from. Some sort of sticker that will be easy to remove that I can write a name on of my source.

The issue is that we don't always know which tokens will be super valuable in the future...

If they were active they would have a much better idea of where to price their tokens.
You can't fix stupid but you can TPK it.

I know they are a commercial shop and need to make some money in tokens but I can't argue their prices are out of touch with community pricing

I don't know how hard it was to put serial numbers on the RoSPs, but I'm thinking it wouldn't be a bad idea to start adding them on URs and relics, too. And Golden Tickets, before those start proliferating, too.

I'm sure Jeff had no ulterior motives for timing this announcement, I think it happened recently and that is why he announced it now.

Also, Jeff may be reluctant to share information on how the forgeries were done or how he identified them, as that might help people figure out how to make the forgeries harder to detect. And it makes sense that he wouldn't give any information about possible culprits until he's sure they are guilty.

I didn't think about golden tickets, but that would be great if it was affordable for Jeff to do so. When you register for the run you give your number so we know ahead of time if there is a conflict.

URs might not be worth it if there is a significant cost, but I'd say yes for relics and definitely Legendaries.

There were some years when the GT had a link/code which you registered. But it hasn't been like that for awhile....
