TOPIC: Green with Envy run Sunday 1PM - 3 Spots available

Re: GenCon 2015 Green with Envy run. 9 years 1 week ago #13

I got to run to work but someone please calculate the approximate melee To Hit for the 4th level classed compared to last years average AC for Nightmare. I am afraid that the melee classes will not hit with a 20 slide.

Matt and Josh would either of you be OK with running Paladin or Dwarf Fighter? *Paladin would be good in a lowbie group*

Dwarf Fighter would be fine for me.

The average is +3 to hit with the spread being +1 +2 +3 +4 by class

Assuming a Rare weapon that should also be +1 to hit.
Assuming we have a Bard that goes up another +1 to hit for bardsong.

pushes the array to +3 - +6

That means multiple monsters will need higher scores to hit but should be doable for most fights. Bull's Strength spell might come into play for one combat as well.

Looks like fighting classes are out, does that leave monk open then if there is no open fighter/ranger/barbarian/pally? I just dont/cant play any caster/memory based class.
We're all the kind of people who enjoy the game on a "meta" level. We like talking about the game year-round. We buy tokens. We enjoy crafting. We get together during the off-season if we can. We are a very skewed demographic that way. -Raven

Matt Humpolick - Fighter

Problem was only that 2 of you wanted Fighter.

We do not correctly have a Paladin or Bard but I have you marked to play Fighter. If you prefer Paladin or Monk instead just let me know

I would like you to pencil me in as Monk per my earlier post.

I am concerned about melee because if we are +3 to hit and the AC ranges between 19 and 24 on Nightmare basically if you don't hit a 18+ you are missing and even if you hit a 20 you could miss.

Bull strength would not be an option because it is not a 2015 UC/C.

20 is always a hit... But I'll check my numbers against last year's modules and see if it is even possible...

Bull's Strength is also a Wizard Level 2 spell on the Character card

This sounds like fun. I think I can swing the Bard. Unless 'Uninvited' is an actual person and I misunderstand. I would probably mostly be doing bardsong anyway, and a few spells and scrolls. PM Sent.

I notice there is no rezzing as everyone will probably be using the one red item on something other than a Mystic Mushroom.

I think since there aren't any STR-enhancing items that the best bet is using the DEX enhancing Drow Boots along with bardsong, +1 Bolt and +1 Drow Lt. Crossbow as the rare. That's a base +4 ranged for everyone. Drow Sting Armor, if you can use it, is another +1. So the ranged, other than Wizard, would be +6 to +8 (ranger). Wizard is probably casting spells/scrolls anyway.

Probably just the Fighters would apply their strength and otherwise stack for AC and hp. Also note the spreadsheet isn't adding in the AC from Necklace of Shadows at the moment, so make sure you bump up your AC .

Everyone should probably use Girdle of Wealful Health (it's not in the Excel sheet right now so you may have missed it) so you get +1 hp for every mushroom eaten. Everyone will be sick of mushrooms. And everyone should have Alchemist Purse to protect their two types potions. And use Potion Icy Blood when entering every room.

Wait. Was this a Puzzle or Combat run?

Unfortunately he is a player... called Uninvited :)

Great point!

I didn't think about that, but you are right, I should probably stick with ranged (as the Ranger) to get +5 or +6 to-hit. Thoughts on Gloves of the Dark Gnome? I sacrifice 1 to-hit for ranged, 1 AC, but gain 4HP.

Yeah, that's a no-brainer to equip...

Also a great idea!

Definitely!

Sure, if we get a free action, otherwise probably not worth it.

Lodestone wrote: Wait. Was this a Puzzle or Combat run?

Presumably combat. I assume one person is buying out the whole slot?

PS - on consumables, I think we'll need a lot of: Scroll Cure Fungal Attack (just in case), tons of Spotted Red Mushroom (for 2HP healing between rooms), possibly some Scroll Ice Dart, and for ranged I plan to use a +1 Bolt for each shot unless I need the Bolt of Poison instead.

Wizards should have some Pearls of the Planes (just in case, looking at you Alex! ;) and Wands of Spider Swarm, Scroll Stone Rain, and Scroll Swirling Shadows.

I burned through 20+ Spotted Red Mushrooms on our 3-man NM run at WYC... we should really plan to show up with 50-100pt healing per person on this run IMO. I can help out with the tokens if anybody is short (at cost, not looking to make money, just help us get through this!).
