That is correct, I am working on the FAQ now and it will be mentioned in there. But essentially scrolls are not subject to the additive efforts of a Wizard and the focus item knowledge of the Cleric. They work as written when read. If a scroll requires the player to “hit an AC, the token will be slid on the battle board just like a melee weapon, but without the damage indicator.

Thanks Dave. That will make things clearer for players.

Keep checking the site, version 2.0 of the Token Guide is due soon, it will have info about 2003, 2004, and 2005 tokens, those special Ultra Rare blue and purple print tokens, and the newly compiled FAQ. Yes, it is a bit bigger so please do not complain too much about the size, I am trying to keep it down but still have nice graphics.

Plus, I have created a table of contents in the Acrobat file (v1.2 and 2.0), do you find this useful?

How do you handle the MW Bard's Instrument with Weapons and Shields?
Can you carry a shield and/or weapon at the same time? Do you have to wait a turn to swap it out? Can you cast while carrying an Instrument?

While it would be cumbersome (think handheld lyre or guitar and shield). I would probably allow the shield to be carried and the instrument played. That way if a monster had a random attack on the Bard (standing out of melee to play for the party) the Bard would still have the bonus of his shield. However, carrying a weapon and the instrument at the same time is darn near impossible. I would impose a combat round penalty on the bard to shift his gear around (or drop it) to draw a weapon and enter combat. This would be treated much like changing from a ranged weapon to a melee weapon. There is time to swap weapons and move into range to attack.

I will verify this with Jeff, as well.

And spellcasting? Would the Bard need to take a round to put a shield or instrument away before casting a spell/reading a scroll?

I would say for a spell, no. For a scroll maybe (I am inclined to say that as long as you are not in combat there would not be a penalty, if you are in combat you would have to step out of melee to pull the scroll out and read it), I will hit Jeff up for a judgment.

Jeff or Lori,
Can either of you spread some light on what the Golden Ticket does? My gaming group went together to buy tokens and got a Golden Ticket. Now we'd like to know what it does. We understand that we get to do the dungeon early (Wed night) and that there will be VIP.
Can you let us know if there will be any special treasure tokens passed out or spread throught the adventure? Anything else exceptional? Just curious.

Thanks.

The Golden Tickets allows one of your number to run through the "dress rehearsal" run of TD on Wednesday night. It should be a lot of fun.

As far as surprises go...well you will just have to see...it is a surprise.

Some WotC and Gen Con folks will be playing too, and who knows who else might show up.

Okay...we only have 3 bags left! Order now.

Also, Lori and I talked...and we figured out what we should do with the loose tokens we have left. We are not going to promote the following anywhere except in this post -- in order to give the faithful the first crack at this.

We are offering for sale a limited number of "bagless" token kits. The same "deals" apply to these token kits, but you get a special "bonus" for not getting the bag with your kit.

Instead of the normal 7 Common, 2 Rare and 1 Very Rare token kit, you will get 8 Common, 3 Rare and 1 Very Rare tokens. That is an extra Common and Rare token. Just call Lori at 618.549.8783 and tell her you want the bagless special. Thanks for the idea gamers!

Special Note: All the "00" special bags are already taken, so none of these bagless kits will be of the "00" variety.

To summarize then, it sounds like the Instrument takes up the weapon slot, and swapping it out is the same as swapping out any other weapon.

On a more general note, how will we show what weapons are currently equipped (which can be important as you switch rooms with a new DM). In our badge somehow (which means fumbling to get the token out of our badge whenever we go into combat, or the honor system (whatever is in your hand or something), or some other way?

The Bard's instrument takes two hands.

I will need to confirm with Lee and Jeff, but I can see us (DMs) just trusting the player for the first opening interaction. I posted on another list that I plan to give the group a "what are you going to do" choice. What ever the player declares at that point that they have in their hands is what we will go with. Once that initial decision is made all changes from that point will have the appropriate penalty.
