TOPIC: Trade Items - update

Re: Trade Items - update 15 years 2 months ago #37
as a suggestion for people doing lots of trade-ins, go to the grocery store and pick up one of those little boxes of 100+ ziploc sandwich baggies. for each combo, just put in all the tokens and a slip of paper that says what those will make. for the trade combos, i have a couple baggies with 25 items labeled 'darkwood plank' that are inside a second baggie with the rest of the ingredients labeled 'orb of pelor'. ie. baggie inside a baggie makes it much easier to understand what is going on. this has worked wonders for me in keeping tokens sorted, and easily available when needed...and when making trades, all tokens for each item are easily located (not mixed up with ANY other tokens), and also not bound up (when they ask to see everything, open baggie and pour onto table).

And having things organized in baggies make them easier to handle and trade in - I write directly on the baggie with a Sharpie!

The above suggestions are all good. This is how I am organizing a LARGE number of trade-in tokens. As a further suggestion:

Get some quart size freezer baggies.

As required, sort gold into 500 small bag quantites; then stuff four of them into the freezer bag, giving you one nice bag of 2000GP (this method assumes the gold in question are commons and it takes between 35 and 40 tokens to make 500GP).

For all other trade items, 175 tokens fit very nicely into one freezer bag. (as do 125). 41 tokens in the first row (at bottom of bag), 42 tokens in rows 2, 3, and 4. (3 rows = 125 tokens). Place the remaining 8 tokens on top of the 4 rows, sort of in between the natural valley created by the rows. Use nice white label provided on the bag to identify contents. Bag can then be place on end, into big box (just fits) along with as many of its buddies as you have. Box can hold somewhere around 12 to 14 such bundles.

Jim
I think TD should follow the suit of CCG companies and have online virtual tokens. I want to buy tokens that don't weigh anything. A nice authorized printout is all I want and need.

That so totally ROCKS - I think we do indeed need to see this in some shape and form in TD future!!!

Step up and put your virtual token in the slider!

It's actually not a bad idea, but to me it seems it would add more complications than solutions.

Right now our team of four members is looking at turning in about 600 tokens total for various Trade Items. We also have Trade Items and ingredients ready for turning in for the Trade Item Combos, probably 3-4 of both pieces. I suppose we could do 150 each plus a couple of TICs, or rotate in the line, or meet offline?

For storing up to about 25 tokens, Saran/cling wrap also works really well and the generic version is even cheaper than baggies. That's how we organized all our combo trades last year. We made stacks and then I clingwrapped each stack and we put the stacks into a quart baggie for transport to GenCon.

BTW, it occurs to me that tokens are a GREAT outlet for the chronically OCD gamer. ;)
The very first year with combo woodies, I decided to stack them in piles and then I duct taped the whole thing together into one giant silver wad. Lotsa sticky tokens. Ba dum dum

Yah, I remember those tokens....

I would suggest arranging to meet with me early in the day.

Yuck virtual tokens. I couldnt stand not being able to stack and restack and restack and restack and resort and fiddle with tokens.

Sure would be a neat idea to prevent LOSS and having to pack them up and haul them around.

TD could do somthing like a KINGDOM VAULT where people check in their certain tokens for TD to hold...then they get a virtual card of their inventory. Would make sliding weapons hard - but it would be kinda neat from a safe keeping stand point.

I just can't handle hauling them anymore. It's reached a point where just the idea gives me the aches. I'm gimpy enough on my own without the 50 lbs of tokens. So if I can't/won't bring my tokens with me to TD, what's the point of having them at all.

No point at all - you should probably just mail them all to me =)
