It's too bad that so many groups are in the dungeon at once. What is it, like 12 minutes a room? That means that any point in time there are 10 groups in the dungeon on each side. It woudl be cool as frakking hell if at the end of this year what you 'win' if you manage to beat the dungeon is a giant prop mockup that looks like a huge oversized version of Thor's hammer from the comics, the hammer of foss altus. Then next year, as you start the adventure, your team is given the prop to carry. Your quest is to take the hammer and beat the avatar of Lothe to death with it, but it can only be used to strike the final blow because its power is limited. Throughout the dungeon, there are interactions in the room with the hammer prop, like you have to tap it to certain things, insert it into an impression to open a door, or whatever. If it's scripted right, maybe it's even 'stolen' at some point a la the spider taking characters in 2004 and you have to retrieve it befor ethe end. It would be fantastic.

Of course, back to the downside. You would like 30-40 of the damn props. 20 to be used at any one time and then at least a backup of half that amount in case some stupid frakkers break theirs or otherwise something happens to it.

ooo, the kidnapping, i remember that. that was my first TD run. it was in the passageways after the bridge, our group started moving on to the next room, i was in front and kept looking back because i didnt like being up front as the rogue (ive played ranger every time since then, so now i am SUPPOSED to be in front), and i noticed there werent enough people behind me. no one even noticed them get taken, it was great.

Re: the kidnapping: I DMed that year but I arrived late and didn't know all of the rooms very well. On my second run through someone in the party came up to me and said one of their party members were missing. I didn't know what happened either so I radioed in that someone might be wandering around backstage. I didn't get any response that I could understand so I radioed in a few more times, a little louder each time, and again, no response.

In the spider room after the party was reunited one of the party members came up to me and said that I acted that out great -- they believed that I didn't know what happened.
Superior acting chops. So good that you yourself didn't even know you were acting. Now that's zen-like.

I guess our party member that was taken by the Phase Spider had a good time watching the rest of the group on some sort of monitor backstage...I guess the bridge room was on camera and while they had to miss that room - they could at least watch the happenings on this monitor. Most cool.

I was taken during that adventure, and had the chance to watch my party cross the bridge. One problem was that I was with a group I didn't know, so when I was in the web calling out to them to rescue me, they were very hesitant, thinking that I was part of a trap - I was, but not deliberately!

Brian
My group got TPK'ed in the bridge room due to a DM frakup. I'm still bitter about that whole thing since our group was one of the last to go through the dungeon. There was absolutely no chance to go again and I missed out on see the remaining rooms and the descriptions were enough to make me howl with frustration.

Has TD ever thought of taping a dungeon run from start to finish? Not necessarily the whole 2 hours, but just the important bits. Sort of a video riddle reveal of sorts. The DM would say his room info right to the camera, you would get to see the room and then the solution would be revealed on tape.
I had wanted to run through TD with a videocam this year so I can finally show my friends what TD is about - they say "we just don't understand it, John."

Of course, I would need permission. Asked, but I am doubtfull I'll receive it.

See, the way you worded it Henry, TA could create a Choose Your Own Adventure on-line interactive game/book based upon TD. :)
