TOPIC: Best Ways to Hold Tokens

Re: Best Ways to Hold Tokens 9 years 10 months ago #37

I am currently using a Dansco binder for my build along with a tube for healing and drawstring bag for my pile of shuriken. All of this goes into a messenger bag, which is currently fairly generic but may get upgraded before the convention. As for all my other stuff, complete and partial trade tokens go into a Plano box with adjustable compartments and stuff I am keeping for any other reason goes into a zippered binder. Along with the zipper keeping stuff inside the binder, it has a removable strap for easy traveling.

Just a quick note, the Plano 1080 stack jars are not big enough to hold tokens. They are only 1.5 inches in diameter and the tokens do not fit inside. If anybody knows the ones that do fit and can handle the weight please post here, thanks!

-Shady I may be able to help you out, as Flambeau outlets often have stuff not listed in their catalogue and they do ship worldwide. PM sent with details.

Shady, I picked up a tube from another player last year. Only information on this is the following: Numis Tubes, Medallions, 40mmx69mm

These are plastic and square, so they are easily stackable if you have multiples. They appear to be pretty cheap on the internet as well :)

I use the round ones to sort my collection by years. You can print out a label on plain paper and slip it in, and there's no problem reading it through the clear plastic. The square ones are more sturdy. I dremel a small hole in the bottom because it's a tight fit, and sometimes the last one sometimes gets stuck from the suction otherwise.

Yeah I've got plenty of the tall round ones from Wizard Coin supply sized for American Eagle Silver Dollars and they fit about 25 tokens per tube. They work well enough, for things I want to have a lot of, but these screw together stacks jars would be a great alternative for situations where you may only want to carry 3 or 4 of 6 different types of tokens and they would all fit inside one connected tube that you would unscrew a section of to reach the tokens inside.

I'm going to order both the 2" plano version and another fish tackle company's version that is 1.75" and I'll let you guys know how they work out. My plan is to work with a leatherworker once I have the ideal storage option sorted out to make a small messenger/shoulder bag that would have pockets and pouches designed and sized specifically to hold the token cases I'd carry into the adventure with me. I use leather casino chip cases for all of my archived collection tokens, this is specifically recommended for a "tactical" approach to having things quickly accessible in the adventure for consumables and things.

I find that sturdy, efficient storage for both requirements are equally important for True Dungeon :)

A custom leather option would be pretty amazing. I'm picking up a few of the Dansco books for our character gear this year and just carrying our consumables in our usual pouches.

Molda's leather wallets are great.

I have both a leather wallet from Molda and a Sash from Binia... both are very nice.

Just a quick question, I know the DANSCO 41 MM binders fit true dungeon coins, but somewhere I remember hearing that the DANSCO American Silver Dollar binders also work.

Can someone please confirm or deny my assumption? Thank you

I only ask as the last four retailers I have called or emailed have informed me that the 41 mm are on massive back order and may not be available in the time frame I need them by (GENCON).

p.s., thanks to Dennis for letting me take a look at his DENSCO binders during WYC. They are just so much more appealing, sturdy, and secure than my vinyl 24 coin holders.

Looking forward to trying out an idea I had with Molda regarding 24 pocket coin holder using a wrist mounted leather strap setup. Want to try it out as a way to keep my if come tokens that i might need to find in an instant. Otherwise i'm using the coin wallets as an inexpensive way to outfit my group. Just don't the collection to justify Dansco yet.

FYI I think Molda is having some personal issues at the moment. I know he mentioned something to me and I haven't heard from him in a while.
