TOPIC: What Needs a Reprint in 2010?

Re: What Needs a Reprint in 2010? 14 years 8 months ago #37

i'm not sure what to call them, but wouldn't some kind of rudimentary "field maintenance tools" for armor be a good idea. while knights in leather or metal armor were not blacksmiths/armorers, it seems like they would have the ability to repair minor things.

if all else fails, i say go with the potion of death's door or something similiar.

I think it would rock to make it a scroll of death's door and give the cleric soem clout.

That's not a bad idea.

Kim

With the '08 and '09 dungeons having rooms where having quality missle weapons is key (Mind Flayer, Harpy, Troll), I'd like to see reprints (or new purps with similar punch) of the Might Longbow and the Flaming Shortbow. I can see the final battle with Smoak beginning with him in flight (and probably unleashing a brutal breath weapon attack on the entire party!). I'm also of the mind lately of having at least one party member be a missle weapon specialist and using one of these weapons as their primary weapon along with glove of dex, bracers of archery and masterwork arrows. Thoughts?

While I'd like to see a reprint of the Mighty Longbow I can't see it happening at this point. It's already been on a chip unlike things that have been reprinted from the wooden token era. With the diversity that they've been trying to strive for each year it just seems unlikely. I hope I'm wrong.

Kim

OYE! But then the poor Druid will need something twice as good to keep ahead of the Cleric...(Just kidding!)

Actually I would like to see more animal powers given to the Druid, be they scroll or wand or what not...that is the main calling card of the Druid - is it not?

Not really a reprint, but I could see something like a rare scroll usable by the druid only: Summon Dire Wolf. It would be turned in at the beginning of the adventure and work kind of like the UR Special this year. (It gave the player a Dryad NPC card and slider for the adventure.) Give it damage like a long sword. Or maybe damage like a short sword and a special ability 'Pounce' usable once per adventure. There could be two or three different animal summons each with a different special ability.

One problem I could see with this is having enough Cards and Sliders for potentially every druid in every party to have one. Lets see, 7 rooms + training + coaching + epilogue, two dungeons (or one set up twice) is 20 cards & sliders? Maybe add one for grind?

If the logistics could be worked out, this could be a cool option that fits the druid theme.

Having the Druid summon a creature to fight with the party is a cool idea - would the Druid slide two sliders then? Maybe one at a time?

I'd prefer to see Resurrection items stay out of the token set for a couple more years - but if there were some sort of Resurrection Scroll, that would be Divine and usable by the Cleric, Bard, and Druid, right?

Yes, Divine scrolls are usable by bards, clerics and druids. I think the ability to summon an animal would be cool. Maybe a familiar for the wizard could be considered for the future as well.

Given that many feel that the dragon should be uber-tough, it may be a good idea to have something resurrection-oriented in the 2010 token pool.

And what about the poor Paladins? We're just as preachy (if not more so) and can't even use Divine scrolls! ;)
