That article made me think of the classic arguement against critics of any sort of art, "If you are so damn smart, why don't you make something that is superior." <br /><br />The author may not remember that there were many other gaming systems that came out in the early DnD era that were "IMPROVED" versions of RPF gaming.  If I dug around in my basement I bet I could find 5 or 6.  I liked Runequest because it felt more "real".  But in the end DnD became the standard.  Not because Critics liked it but because people played it.  <br /><br />People will remember Gygax a lot longer then they will remember that critic. 
A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.
