TOPIC: What a nightmare!

What a nightmare! 6 years 10 months ago #1

I had a dream last night. I was at Gen Con, running my early Thursday run. Everything was just going along great! I was playing a bard, I had all my tokens ready, I had memorized all the bardic knowledge runes, and was raring to go!

Get into the first room and its monster fighting time! I reached for my trusty bardic instrument to provide a wonderful +2/+4 buff, and...

I had forgotten my Vuvuzela at home! :pinch:

Thankfully, in this case it was just all a dream. Don't worry fellow adventurers, I will be sure to bring my instrument (and a backup!) to the real Gen Con!

Are you in the 9am Grind on Thursday? If so, I feel I should play a Paladin to protect you...

And then step to the side and allow Raven's beasts to put you out of our misery. :)

Please no vuvuzela!

I am not in the 9am Grind (un?)fortunately. I have a feeling I will be relying on my Cloak of Blending a lot in the case the paladins I am running with feel the same

Your dream

Our nightmare. :P
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

I will second this, lol. Noise that intrudes on the rooms other players are in is more than intrusive.

I can't tell if that was intended as a joke or not. If you were just kidding, we're cool and you can stop reading here because the rest of this post does not apply to you.
Vuvuzelas and other very loud, disruptive instruments noise-makers negatively impact the experience of other groups. It's my opinion that playing such an obstreperous device is a dick move.

TD may not currently have an official policy against jackassery, but if folks take it upon themselves to disrupt other groups with obnoxious sonic disruptions, a policy will be created.
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?
Please post TDb corrections in this thread .

Druegar (and others that are worried),

I am well aware I am not the only one involved in TD, and act accordingly. I did bring my vuvuzelas last year, mostly as a joke. A 1 second Brrt was all I would do to "play", usually right after calling out "I am playing for X/X bonus". The DMs targeted me a lot, but they let me "play" without issue.

If it does become an issue, I would be absolutely fine with stopping. After how much fun I had last year, I would hate to ruin it for someone else who is running for the first time. However, I found that with all of the sound effects (not just for our room too, I could hear the intro speech from the first room in room 4), other parties with their calls to each other (Cleric, I need healing! Has everyone attacked yet?!), and all of the animatronics, my short Brrt didn't make much of a dent.

Don't worry, Komori; we knew you had no intention of 'negatively impacting the experience of other groups.'

Bring the horn and have fun with it, just like you planned. We're on your first run and we'll let you know if it becomes a problem. B)
You still got hit points! Get back in there and fight!!
