That being said, whoever didn't accept your Medallions of Nobility as proof was definitely in the wrong.

At some point, forum account needs to be somewhat acceptable otherwise there isn't a good way to prove someone is 3rd level or higher for determining class selection (if they aren't 5th level yet).

Logging in is one thing, simply showing the account is another. Otherwise anyone could just show the "henwy" account and claim to be him! ::shudders::

I did give one of Valututto's friends a (friendly) hard time (I knew the person) because she didn't bring any proof of her player level status and her forum name did not match up with her Origins badge name (maiden name versus married last name).

1. I find it odd that logging into the account is not acceptable when the Medallion of Nobility is.

There is no way to verify that the Medallion of Nobility is that player's (just like how you can't verify the non-real name account). Furthermore, the Medallion could just indicate that the player is 5th level (not 6th which is what is required for the treasure chip) whereas logging in can differentiate between 5th and 6th.

So I feel like logging into the account is actually *more* accurate than flashing a Medallion of Nobility....


2. Along those lines, what is the verification method to confirm if a player is a 3rd or 4th level player (for determining class selection)? Do coaches just accept the player's claim? Can another player (involved in the class dispute) ask for all involved players to submit proof of their 3rd+ level player status? Otherwise, what is to prevent every newbie from claiming they are 3rd level?

I also find it odddd that logging in and showing the level is not acceptable for all the reasons above. I would like to see logging in added as a way to prove level.

Coaches do not get involved with class selection disputes. Players need to work thet out on their own.

Being grown-ups and resolving their issues on their own.

The only issue i have with making players log into their account is at some of the venues phone reception can be spotty at best. I have had issues at Gencon and Pax South with reception this past year.

I didn’t say the only way would be to log in to one’s account but add it as an option. I realize there can be connectivity issues so it may not always work but for those times it does work it would be convenient.

I do think logging in is a good option if no other prof is possible. I just think the 5th level token should be the primary still.

But logging in would be the only option for people going from 4th to 6th at gencon or other cons.

It was not. It was Dancing on Thursday.

However, I do not want to focus on the coach. I do not feel they were not being intentionally problematic nor did they create a bad experience. I think they felt rushed to do everything required of them in the training room while they were working with incorrect information and that created a few minutes of frustration.

Also to clarify, the Coach did not ask me to log into my forum account. It was my idea.That was the best solution I could think of quickly. We had already taken up too much time in the training room. The coach did accept the forum information and it seemed to diffuse the situation.

Side note: Thanks to someone upstream quoting the coaches guide, I took the time to read it myself. I must say I recommend players read this if they get a chance. I found a few things of which I were unaware and discovered a few misconceptions of my own. Hopefully I can use this information to be a better player.

There is no perfect answer. For years, people just saw the MoN as a useless trinket. People regularly sold or traded them away, so now there are a lot in “the wrong hands.” I thought of buying one for $10 because I thought it was cool, but I figured I’d earn one on my own.

When the policy came out, some people still sold them as a “slotless treasure token.”

Many who came by them covertly have no doubt since qualified so I guess that problem is slowly going away, unless they’re passing them down to other newbies.

Considering the max loot is about to go over 20, a few unauthorized MoNs floating around doesn’t feel like a big impact. That doesn’t excuse their abuse, but it seems like it’s not worth tormenting legitimate players over it.

The only issue I have ever had with players using the Medallion of Nobility, are those who assume "5th Level Player" means 5th Level character card.

I have had that debate before.
