Maybe we need the powers that be add logging into forum as valid... it just makes sense.

If there is ever an issue, you can just politely ask for an adventure coordinator to intervene...

If you hit level 6 mid-con, that means you were level 5 before the con and could have ordered your medallion of nobility. Hence, why the 5th level item is accepted as proof of level 6.
Though, it is odd that logging in and showing your account is not valid proof of your level...but good luck connecting in lucas oil.

Let the adventure coordinators stay in the dungeon and manage the DMs. A coach coordinator would be a better choice. ;)
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?

Druegar,

As one of everyone's favorite CCs, can you weigh in on this? Is logging into the website acceptable or do we stick with the 4 methods listed in the Coaches' Guide? I had always been told, even before becoming a coach, that reaching a certain level during a con didn't matter until the following con specifically because we didn't want to have everyone trying to login to truedungeon.com in the coaching room. I believe the concerns were lack of reliability of a good internet connection and possibly holding things up in the coaching (and now training) room(s).

Please don't misunderstand, This problem was not a major issue and the coach involved seemed to earnestly be trying to do a good job. My intention in the post was not to complain about a specific coach, but to understand the situation better and see if there is anything I can do to prevent this problem in the future.

You could go from 4th to 6th at gencon this year.

Let’s say you start with 8k at 4th level at the beginning of the con
N1 2k gets you to 5th
N2 2k
N3 2k
Viper pit 1k. 6th level

Thanks!

How many kinds of coordinators are there?

That's actually kind of disappointing to hear.

If I didn’t get my 2k for N1 at origins then that would have been my exact situation

Don't worry, I went from 7th Level to 6th on Monday after I entered my Astral XP. You lose XP for entering it, it will all work out LOL.

I'd rather we stick to the methods mentioned in the Coach's Guide because...
  • Very few people use their real name, so we probably won't be able to verify the person standing in front of us is the account on the forums
  • It's a time-sink. Coaches have much better things to do.
Having said all that, if--and only if--there is time, feel free to call the CC over and we can judge the specific situation.

Mongo wrote: How many kinds of coordinators are there?

Admin, Adventure, Coach, Technical (not sure that's the correct name), Volunteer, and probably at least one more that I'm forgetting.

Of course it's a compliment - just like how I tell my two kids they are (respectively) my favorite daughter and my favorite son. :P

Was this for Into the Shadowlands?

I combat DM'ed and player coach'ed for Into the Shadowlands.

I was a stickler for verifying treasure coins, especially because it didn't actually matter in the end (Jeff ultimately letting everyone have max treasure - except for Trent!).

For 6th+ player cases, I would start by asking the player what level he/she was. I *would* accept the Medallion of Nobility as proof. But if the player didn't know what level is or said something less than 6th level, I would accept the Medallion of Nobility but inform then that technically the extra treasure is for 6th+ level players.

I knew the majority of the players yet I still required them to provide treasure token and 6th+ level verification, if only as a training exercise (so they would remember to bring them for standard runs).
