I imagine the coach will still fill out the total treasure (and perhaps which TE tokens you equip), but will not verify the tokens; so you can just show the app to coach. Bit then in training room, the trainer will verify physical tokens matched up with what is on the party card.

If a player claims treasure they don't deserve, they're defrauding TD and committing a crime. It's theft.

If they claim character stats they don't deserve, they're not hurting TD. They're just cheaters.

Back in the old days of Completion tokens (instead of modern day Participation tokens), would you say that cheaters were then defrauding TD?

Back when we had Treasure Stamps, would cheating with character stats be defrauding TD?

Even now with no Treasure Stamps, there still are Survivor Pins. So would cheaters be defrauding TD of pins?

If fake stats don't give you any material benefit, and don't deprive TD of anything, then it's victimless fraud, if that makes sense. But yeah, if you lie about surviving to get the pin, you're committing fraud. Granted it's hardly felonious and TD is unlikely to prosecute, but they're still technically petty criminals. Like stealing the half-empty box of tissues from a hotel.

But I'm not a lawyer. I'm just talking from my personal code of ethics. YMMV

I think this should officially be changed to be part of the level 5 reward, and require that token as proof. It's effectively a level 5 reward now. And that way the trainer is only validating tokens.

+1, this popped up on a TD Q and A thread over on the gencon indy FB page where players stating issues with proving 6th. Since we technically don't have a 6th lvl way of verification move the extra pull to 5th and be done with it.
We're all the kind of people who enjoy the game on a "meta" level. We like talking about the game year-round. We buy tokens. We enjoy crafting. We get together during the off-season if we can. We are a very skewed demographic that way. -Raven

And what a colorful thread it is. Still plenty of people complaining about unfriendly veteran players spoiling their experience.

Colorful one way to put it, i've been very active both replying and poking. Served as a nice distraction for me at least.

As have I. Trying to knock down the assertions that its a 50/50 whether you have a good experience or a "horror story."

GAH! NO! This keeps getting brought up, but it doesnt work. How do you handle someone who hits 5th level on their first run at gencon? They will point to level benefits and say they should get the +1 treasure for the rest of gencon. And if you move it to level 5, THEY ARE RIGHT!
If you make players wait until they get the level 5 token to get the +1 treasure, then it might as well be the level 6 reward. Yes, there will be a few players claiming the bonus for a run or two before they hit level 6, but so what, isnt that preferable to constantly having to argue with newly level 5 players about +1 treasure?

Hi Kent

In the past I have agreed with that, but I'm beginning to think moving it to lvl 5 is cleaner. You already have the issue you stated, where someone who just got to lvl 5 knows they can get an extra treasure with the lvl 5 token, and is surprised / frustrated that they can't get it at GenCon. I've event heard people argue they should get the bonus treasure because they just leveled on that run. Changing which lvl that gets the reward does not change that frustration. (because it's still tied to the token) It would make it so that someone who is lvl 5 that has their Medallion of Nobility can't be accused of cheating/defrauding TD. Right now the mgs is "you're breaking the rules by not being lvl 6, but we're ok with that"

Rambling on….
Getting access to the medallion when you lvl is a different issue. Personally I'd like it if you could get it items like that at GenCon.. It would add to the sense of achievement. Besides it's in TD's interest to give rewards as close to act that earned it to reinforce the behavior.. Play TD.

I'd like it if I could enter my XP in the hotel at the end of the day, and then go into TD the next day and pick up my item from the TD store. Maybe the website gives me a redemption code I bring in to the store.

Anyways, I'm getting off thread. Sorry

Perhaps one of the reasons for moving having to order items like that (other than to make life easier on GENCON volunteers) was to encourage people to order tokens. As long as you're placing an order for the Medallion, why not order a few tokens also? It makes sense to me.
