I'd like to express my disappointment in TD not taking into greater consideration families on Family Day at GENCON 2017. I've already bought Family Day badges with the expectation that we'd be able to do a run on Sunday like in year's past.

For some background, my GENCON pretty much revolves around TD. I play 3 runs with friends on Thurs-Saturday each year and then take my family of 4 on a run on Sunday during Family Day. Just having more runs on the other days really does nothing to help me. School in Indiana starts the first week of August, so bringing my boys to GENCON before the weekend isn't an option.

The best I could do now to try to get back to parity with prior years for my family would be to buy 3 additional day passes (and get a refund on the Family day pass -- $120 increase in my costs) and then HOPE to be able to get tickets on Saturday for all of us while competing with all the added competition from everyone else who can only attend on the weekend.

Again, just seriously disappointed. Hopefully you reconsider in planning future GENCON events as my sons really do love playing TD.

FYI: Several forumites have already posted similar sentiments (about bringing family and friends on Sunday).

Instead of spreading out the Sunday runs to Thursday/Friday/Saturday, it probably would have been better to shift more of them to Saturday.

If you are in range of Columbus, Ohio, TD is now at Origins. At this point there are a lot of tickets available for TD. Since its mid June, school should not be a factor.

This sounds like me except I had bought two sets of family badges for Sunday this year. I am/was disappointed. I also understand that it is what is best for TD, so I fully support even though it affects me negatively.

I understand the reason and desire for the change but as a player/volunteer it does complicate things. Particularly now that i'm fighting other volunteers for the same limited time slots that fit with shift times. I expect i'll get a run, it's trying to find times that work to cover the 4 different runs i want to do that'll be an issue i expect.
We're all the kind of people who enjoy the game on a "meta" level. We like talking about the game year-round. We buy tokens. We enjoy crafting. We get together during the off-season if we can. We are a very skewed demographic that way. -Raven

I hear the disappointment, to hear this from the other side the only reason why I volunteered this year was because the change to the schedule so I can make my 6+ hour drive home that day without getting back at 9 at night. Sometimes the changes are good for players and sometimes the changes are good for volunteers. Finding that balance is rough.

As a full time coach volunteer, this schedule opens up three hours of runs that were not available to me before. Sunday runs were always blocked by my coaching schedule. And we get the riddle reveal back. Given that the reveal videos likely won't be seen until after Origins 2018, this is a big deal.

So yes, it's good for some, not so good for others.

I am disappointed that there are no Sunday runs - as well as some of my friends that only join me for one or 2 runs a year. We liked the ease of Sunday morning - where it didn't conflict with our other games/tournaments - and it was easier for all of us to get together.

This year being so late - my friends that are teachers are now limited to only Saturday runs - so we probably won't be able to do as many. (I see Saturday being sold out WAY faster than Thurs or Fri)

I understand the reasons why the change was made - but just want to add my voice to the hope that Sunday runs come back in the future.

I understand the disappointment on this change.

One thing that might help is if True Grind was available on Sunday. That way some people could do their Grind on Sunday and it would open up some time between Thu-Sat. Just a thought.

It might help some but it would not help the original poster or myself. The great thing about Sunday was the discounted badges. Though if TD could do a TD only badge. Allows access to TD only, no other events and no exhibit hall. I wonder how many people would buy them and how much they would cost. Probably not worth the effort but just a thought.

Though that's an interesting idea, multiple logistical issues make that a non-starter.

Have you looked it up in the TDb ?

Without out knowing the issues hard to understand. TG takes a very small amount of resources - small area, no props, etc.
