I'm pretty sure everyone here agrees on that goal. Where they disagree is on the best way to do that. Following Wheaton's Law is a good first step.

As another newb who is just starting to peruse the forums, just receiving his first few token packs, and will be attending his first TD run at Origins, I couldn't agree more with Boilerplate!

As a newb, it's not about overwhelming us with tokens we may or may not understand on day one. I understand this may help the party overall in that specific adventure, but the newb who was all excited to show up with their own character build and newly purchased tokens will probably feel confused and frustrated when they're now looking at a completely different character.

Rather, I know I would prefer to hear about the veterans' experiences. Maybe some guidelines and pointers (and nudges in the right direction if I'm totally f'ing something up LOL). This, to me, would provide a fantastic first experience and make me feel that I earned whatever I received...Versus me just 'tagging along', contributing nothing, and acquiring things that were given to me for one reason or another.

I hope this makes sense. Obviously, I haven't been to one of these events yet and I can't begin to tell you how excited I am for this. So take this for what it is...The opinion of somebody who is as TD 'raw' as it gets. I'm staring at my first four token packs and starting to play around with character builds. If I show up to my first run (ironically, also the very first run at Origins) and all of my pre-con prep and excitement gets trumped by veterans who just 'run the show', the disappointment would be immense.

I'm very encouraged by the vets speaking up on here and championing our cause...I salute you!
; -)
Thanks for taking the time to read this and hope I get to meet some of you at Origins!
