TOPIC: First time Gencon attendee with 2-5 FTA's L4T

First time Gencon attendee with 2-5 FTA's L4T 7 years 9 months ago #1

Howdy all,

I was able to get a bunch of friends to go to Gencon this year and we all just learned about TD. Anyone have a pack of tickets they are willing to part with? I assume we'll want to do normal, because none of us have done it before. Experienced gamers in general.

Might be able to help some, I've got 2 spare tickets on what's mostly a newbie run for Friday 12:48 Deeperdark Combat. Depending on gear levels likely to be normal. I plan on meeting early to build out ahead of time if at all possible.
We're all the kind of people who enjoy the game on a "meta" level. We like talking about the game year-round. We buy tokens. We enjoy crafting. We get together during the off-season if we can. We are a very skewed demographic that way. -Raven

Try Harlax he had 8 tickets to a run. Don't know if he returned them yet.

I mentioned to Harlax that I might be interested in some of his tix. I'll need at least 4. I'm happy to join a more experienced group, as long as they are willing to bring us up to speed in the weeks before GC. I don't want to drag anyone down.

Are all runs 8 people slots?

Actually they are 10, he was only able to get 8 tickets to that particular run though.

I had 4 tickets a few days ago but they went to someone new as well...sorry.

No harm, no foul. This is apparently THE thing to do. Out of curiosity, how do they manage 10 people in small rooms together? Several guides?

There is a DM for each room. Sometimes there is an NPC as well. And the rooms are not that small. Sometimes they are quiet large. Though room is always a premium, Jeff and Co do an excellent job with the space they have to cram 4 dungeons in the space they have.

And yes it is the thing to do, at least once to see what the fuss is all about. I admit it is not for some folks, but in general those that enjoy it, get really passionate about it (myself included).

Not nearly as bad as you think. Also 1 reason why TD takes an entire convention hall to pull off. For past several years we've been in hall A.

I wouldn't worry about being a drag. Normal is meant to be played entirely with what you pull out of a single booster (everyone gets a booster for playing when you check in).

I was referring to playing above normal with the drag line. I'm willing to play first time harder and gear up for it, but I'll need a little coaching before GC starts.

Just replied to your PM. I still have all 8 for Thursday 4:51 BHM Puzzle.

I'm actually coaching BHM Puzzle during that time. So I might actually be your coach if you do this run
