TOPIC: GenCon 2016 Wednesday token trade

Hi Everyone,

In GenCon past, a group of us would trade TD tokens and socialize in the food court across from the Marriott on Wednesday, before GenCon officially started. Part of the reason for this was twofold; first, many of us were in the Marriott and second, True Dungeon was in Exhibit Hall A or B. So, everything was close by.

These reasons have changed. True Dungeon is in Lucas Oil and we are spread between more hotels. With those changes in mind, where should we move to? Or, should we stay put? Thoughts? Input and feedback are much appreciated. Thanks.

I've never been to LOS, but being a stadium, I think it's reasonable to assume they have some kind of food production facilities. Of course that doesn't mean they'll be running during Gen Con, nor does it mean they'll be near where TD is located. Can a Colts fan shed any more light on this?

I was wondering how that was going to go this year.

This is the first year I'm actually showing up early enough to have a full day with not much to do on Wednesday.

Would be nice to have a place to meet up with folks, do ticket exchanges, etc.

I would suggest staying put in the food court for Wednesday. We will get more foot traffic of Gen Con folks and you might get a trade with someone that is not going to Lucas Oil for TD. After Wednesday I would definitely suggest traders setup near TD in whatever space available. Just my two cents.

I understand your point. It's just that the GT runs on Wednesday are in Lucas. Druegar brought up the fact that we don't know the Lucas layout yet. Staying put has advantages. But being close to the GT swag for first dibs has advantages, too.

I would suggest the food court that is on the east side of the ICC. It is just inside the doors that lead to Georgia St, and is a straight shot to TD.

My vote is for somewhere closer to the TD hall itself in stadium. With volunteer training for some and GT runs for others rather not have to go back and forth between the old trading location and the stadium.

Or even if (not sure) there is space in the hallway/corridor on East side of convention center/dealer hall that runs down to the tunnel.

True but as long as the GT'ers know where the traders are they will come there. I think for those of on the forums (which is most GT'ers) that as long as it is know where the traders are is most important. If you want to trade where non-forumites are then I suggest a better location than down at Lucas. Again just my two cents, I know where everyone will be because I am on the forums.

I think that's a solid suggestion.

Looking at Google Maps it seems there are other rooms in the stadium other than the two main exhibit halls but I don't see anything that could be any sort of food court over there.

I doubt that there is a food court in the basement of Lucas. It's usually not an issue, because the food courts close early on the weekdays. It's really about location, location, location! What about Kirk's suggestion about meeting on the east side court?

We're on the NNE corner of LOS. Page three of this map shows halls 1 and 2, which are where TD will be. (On this map, North is left, not up.)

This map shows concession stands (in orange) very near, and possibly one level above where TD will be. (On this map, North is sort of two o'clock-ish)

I think we'll get more foot traffic* if we keep the token trades meeting inside the ICC instead of in Lucas Oil. And looking at the maps Druegar kindly linked, it seems like the Georgia Street / East food court is, indeed, a very direct line to Lucas Oil.

So Kirk's (actually Balthasar's) suggestion of the Georgia St. Food Court works for me.



* Foot traffic = people who may or may not be there to trade tokens, but stop for trades when they see a bunch of folks with binders open.
