Did that get your attention? Thought it might. So here's what I'm thinking and I would value everyone's opinions. I'm thinking about putting together an $8K package purchase. It would be put together in 500 lots at $18 each as follows:

Lot 1 Orb of Dragonkind
Lot 2 Wish Ring
Lot 3-10 Tooth of Cavadar
Lot 11 Onyx Proof set ( Non UR)
Lot 12-43 PYP
Lot 44-51 1 signed copy of BOTH modules after the event is over in November, 2017
Lot 52 1 Patron Lapel Pin which will allow you to enjoy the TD Patron events at True Dungeon Celebration.
Lot 53-56 Limited-edition “Adventurers’ Guild” entrance buttons
Lot 57-60 Limited-edition “Adventurers’ Guild” token
Lot 61-140 3 X (token 10 packs) 30 tokens w/ the random 3% chance of the UR
Lot 141-500 2 X (token 10 packs) 20 tokens w/ the random 2% chance of the UR

Whats the catch? Well you would pre buy a lot or number of lots and once they are all sold, they will all be randomly drawn. I am not taking orders or collecting any money right now. I just want to know if you would do something like this, what else you would like to see as a part of the lots. I am not entirely sure what all comes with these orders, so if there is something else that would be of value and you would like to see offered as a "lot" please let me know. The current plan is to accept payment through paypal and all shipping costs will have to be paid after you claim your lot. Another option may be to increase the cost to $21 and include all shipping? So if this is something you would like to do, PM me and if I get enough interest I will actually start accepting orders. I am open to all suggestions. Thanks for taking a look.

And the extra $1k collected goes where? I can understand the cost of organizing/sorting stuff out, but $18 should at least cover shipping on the 'lots'. Also, the '10 token 10 packs' would be 10 total packs of ten tokens each? Would this make the last 444 Lots 2 total packs of ten tokens?

You should consult rules for running a lottery in your jurisdiction.

Being on thin ice with regard to tax laws / business license is one thing.

Being on thin ice with regard to gambling is probably much more concerning in terms of the type of legal attention it would attract - for example GenCon has entire sections in their exhibitor guide detailing how you need to be carefull in running a raffle / giveaway - the issues only magnify if you charge for random chances.

Very true. Consider the fact it would be across state lines as well.

Yes, I agree. I will have to look into that further. The main reason it is set up that way, is so that every lot sold gets something worth the amount charged. Albeit the bottom lots would be charged $9 per 10 pack $1 over TD price, but a product non the less. Although, I won't have to look any further if there isn't sufficient interest.

If you can increase the odds of getting equal or greater value to better than ten percent, you may see more interest.

I can't use $18 to cover shipping, because of the following: Assuming minimum shipping is $3, that would be $1500 shipping plus the shipping costs of the original package. So the total costs with shipping would be around $9500. I am also accepting paypal payments, if everyone decides that this would be a good and fun idea. Paypal, I believe, charges around 3% for transaction fees. So that would be another $270 off the top. Maybe, $17 per lot?

Yes to the 10 token 10 packs.

My concern about participating in auctions like this (Ebay often has Magic auctions along these lines) is whether the distribution of the lots is truly random, and whether the big ticket items (in this case lots 1-45 and in particular Lot 1) are actually given out. There are probably mechanisms you could apply to help alieve those concerns.

It also seems it's diluted somewhat since you're collecting $9K and giving out less than $8K worth of stuff (it doesn't include 2 PYPs, 20 10 packs of tokens, Adventurer's Guild tokens/buttons, the invite to the special TD Celebration events, Dungeon modules). I may be a bit off on the stuff not included, as I haven't taken a close look at the $8K package.

Yes, I am trying to come up with ways to address that. The most feasible at this point is as follows. Lots 1-500 would be set up on an online spreadsheet, where people who have bought lots may choose which lot number they would like. On a first come first serve basis and then when the actual items come, we where thinking of doing a live opening of the packages and random assigning of items to the lot numbers. Creating a "Double Blind" situation. The adventure guild tokens/buttons, the invite and the Dungeon modules can be added as well. I will rework the lots here shortly to include that stuff and put the 2 PYPs token packs into it as well... Any other thoughts on ways to help lessen these concerns?

I just looked up what my paypal fees would be at $18 per lot, my total fees to paypal would be $415. They take 2.9% plus 30 cents per transaction.

i would never do anything like this. it is too easy for people to pick out the "good" packs....not saying you would do that
but it is just way to easy to tell which ones have the URs in the packs(or even GT)
