Next time I will not bring a bag.

Yeah, don't bring anything of value anywhere near the dungeon during tear-down.

Did not have a choice this year. Did not complain about it though it was every common and uncommon for my students, two trade items, 4 rares, was my own fault for checking it.. It just saddened me that the bags were just thrown on a table and no announcement was made.

That is not cool. Sorry about that.

I don't think the 50% miss chance was "horrid" - we've faced incorporeal monsters with the same limitation - this one was just psychic instead of magical. One added layer of difficulty was that b/c it was a psychic ability, single-target spells like Magic Missile (which do hit ghosts) also had a 50% miss chance.

1. TD advertised using skills to win. A die roll for EVERYONE to miss makes it luck. (And we had 5 of 6 rolls a miss.)
2. Was stunning fist supposed to stop the blink effect? It did not for our party, but we heard it did for others.

Each potential hit should have had a separate die roll, a separate 50% chance to hit.

If a stunning fist attack succeeded (still had to make 50% chance), the mind flayer could not attack or use his blur ability the next round.

The DM was rolling for the whole party (assumed to save time ).

I know I have said this before. I am ok with the 50% miss chance. If they would only use a normal die. Not a countdown. Our DM picked up the dice and kept doing a spin roll which kept the dice facing the low side and in the end all 8 hits missed. Had it been a normal D20 there is equal chance no matter what side the dice landed on.

Sounds like it would be a good idea for TD to transition away from countdown dice.
