TOPIC: Volunteering and GenCon passes

I know there are special forums for volunteers but I have never volunteered before so I wouldn't have access to them.

I'm going to sign up to be a part-time volunteer for GenCon 2015. I noticed one of the benefits is a GenCon badge which is pretty valuable obviously. My question is: when do you know you have been accepted as a volunteer and/or when do you get your badge? Will I be able to attempt the lottery for the GenCon hotel blocks? Will I be able to register for events when event registration opens?

when i went that route in the past, I always bought my badge then got a refund if TD accepted me a full time Volunteer.

Great, thanks Lazlo. One more question: will I know my volunteer schedule before event registration opens? It looks like I can choose day/night options for each day but would rather know which two shifts I'll have before event registration opens so I can schedule my other events, including TD runs, around it.

yes it is usually out before events go on sale
