Could be done via forced perspective and a smaller model.

Or just a cage prop with fake legs hanging out of it, on top of a wall that hides the subject's real legs, and matched the backdrop.

Or you could just have a bird cage set up with a walk in ramp in the back and from the front the backdrop makes it look like it's hanging? I'd say not metal since you don't want people getting hurt, but maybe a black plastic that's shaped to look like spiders or spiderwebs.
