Funny - I would not have traded my Gauntlets for that haul. Does that count as a second opinion that Gauntlets are worth more than 300gp? In my opinion the haul was worth about 400gp to me so I place at least that much value on the Gauntlets. (I think it was obvious George had a lower value of the goods he threw out for trade bait...or at least just valued the gloves that much more.)

So I know there is a BLING factor for having the best armor a class can wear...is that factor weighted the same as an item everyone in the party can use? Would you post the ratio for BLING and Multi-use so we can all review and discuss?

What value would you have placed on the items George traded? You mentioned 400gp. I would be interested to see this broken down.

It is purely personal but the cures are not 120gp to me...more like 75. The Bless is more than guide in my opinion also...

Ahhh this is such an interesting part of the game. Why who trades what for what. In a way it is like playing cards and you don't know what is in the other person's hand. Do you think I would really trade gauntlets to George, if I didn't have more than one? My philosphy--hard goods for hard goods and soft goods for soft goods. I lose one hard item, the gauntlets (something that will last after the dungeon), but I gain two equally versitile hard items, the two different bracers--one of which I may use for another trade. The soft items (things that will be used and disappear) are pieces of cake to this deal.

Usually I will want to trade hard items for hard items and only soft items for soft items. If there is a deal for a hard item I want, I may throw in a soft item as an inducement.

My trades are driven by what I have and what I think some other party members will need. Just my thoughts.

I almost wish I hadn't been such a nice guy, reversing our earlier trade. An Elixir of Life for Gauntlets...? Then again, I wouldn't have traded 'em off you in the first place if either of us had known how much they'd be sought after.

Enjoy your rightful gauntlets. I'll enjoy my Elixir and hope it serves me well in the Dungeon this year.

It is my personal opinion... I have seen my opinon anger or at least frustrate of late - so I think I have said too much already and will make it a practice to keep my token value opinions to myself.

Sorry - I think it will always be my practice to value the tokens as I see fit based on what I have in my hand / what I think I need to play the game / and what I want to collect. Let those that trade with me beware...or take advantage of me...it works both ways.

FYI - not that I need to justify my CLW value - but the group I finished SoCal 04 with had only one CLW potion and maybe 7 of the 1 point potions...we survived the adventure with the entire party in tact and still had a few of the 1 pointers left. That was without the Bard casting scrolls as back-up for the Cleric. Now I know they were in short supply for purchase but just exactly how many people used them at SoCal??? Are we looking at a bunch of hoarding driving up the price as opposed to the actual value of the item? If this is the case the newer players who do not have a hoard are hard pressed to get a few potions/scrolls etc.

I hope the apothecary takes that into consideration and gives some discount on all healing items...afterall, doesn't the town want heros to stay alive and defend the town in time of need?
