TOPIC: Multiple Violet Prism Ioun Stones?

I understand that multiple identical ioun stone effects do not stack, but could one have multiple Violet Prism Ioun Stones swirling about simultaneously, each one "waiting in line" to absorb their allotment of baneful spells?<br /><br />E.g., Let's say I know I'm going to face a caster who has an infinite wand of Magic Missiles (cast as a 1st-level spell). This foe despises me and will target me every round. I also expect this will be a long combat. Before the fight, could I put up five Violet Prism Ioun Stones and enjoy 15 rounds of protection against those pesky preternatural projectiles?

I would think the non-stacking rule would apply, and that you would not be able to use identical Ioun stones.<br />

Unless the stones are territorial, and the first of a "species" won't allow others of its ilk to join in orbit, I would think he could have more than one in orbit.  The player could only use the effect(s) of one at a time, though.<br /><br />It was stated in another thread that taking an ioun stone out of the air doesn't take an action.  If putting one into orbit happens at the same speed, then a player wouldn't need to have them all in the air at the same time.  When the last charge is used on one, it either falls, spent, to the ground or is snatched out of the air by the player, and then the player tosses a new one into the air.
