TOPIC: Arcane Recipe: OFFICIAL Token Info

There will be four Arcane Recipe tokens available this year.  One is available right now in a special auction on Ebay, one will be in the Treasure draw box at Gen Con, and two will be auctioned off right after the Riddle Reveal at Gen Con for gold pieces.<br /><br />One of these tokens can be turned in before October 1st, 2009 to begin the process of the creation of an unique "artifact".  This one-of-a-kind token will have purple letters and a purple "token back", and only one will ever be made of each specific token.  The creator's name will be listed in very small print at the bottom of the one token, and this item will be "soul-bound" to its creator so only that person can ever use it in a True Dungeon event.<br /><br />NOTE:  True Adventures, Ltd. retains the copyright on the design of the token, and the design of the token will be shown on the TD website after the token has been created.<br /><br />When the token is turned in, the player must include the desired name and power of the token.  The Powers That Be will reply back with any changes to the name/power that they deem is necessary along with a listing of additional tokens needed to make the stated artifact.  For instance, if someone wants to make "Bibwik's Wand of Petrification" that player may have to send back some Spider Stone Fangs, llots of Dwarven Steel, some Enchanter's Oil, some Planks and certain gems.  <br /><br />Note that the minimum cost to create an artifact (even if using the Arcane Recipe token drawn from the Treasure Box) will be 20,000 GP -- but it can go higher depending on the desired power.  The person can send in images for the token, but the images must be copyright free.<br /><br />Once this is all completed, we will design the token and forward a proof via email.  And then sometime in the Spring the person will receive their artifact token in a mysterious box.  Have fun opening it!<br /><br />Note that the power level of artifacts is viewed as slightly greater than most URs.  A +3 weapon is possible -- if you have the gems to create it.  Note, however, we would not be doing the artifact thing correctly if we did not include a slightly negative effect along with the super-awesome power of the token.  Possible negative effects might include (depending on the power) a -2 to FORT saves, the curse of not being able to use followers, inability to use potions, etc.<br /><br />All costs and negative effects will be known before the player pulls the trigger on the creation of the item.  If they decide not to do it, the Arcane Recipe token is returned and they can try again next year.<br /><br />We plan on offering 3 Arcane Recipe tokens for at least 2-3 years before they go away -- perhaps forever.<br />

Can I make a request about the soul bound thing?  It would be really cool if our children could "inherit" them later on down the line . . .

One question I had, about the soul bind thing is:<br /><br />Do you always have to use that item afterwards?  I get that only one person can use it, but it's not clear if they have to.  That becomes more significant the more classes you play. <br />

You don't HAVE to use it -- but only you CAN use it.<br /><br />Good question.<br /><br />

Lets say you have an identical twin with the same DNA. Would they also have pretty much have the same soul so you could share the item?

What if you sold your soul for a doughnut?

More importantly, what if you sell or transfer ownership of your soul to someone else. Can they then use the item?

What about reincarnation?<br />

Are atheists banned from having one?

Just have them sell their license to you as well when they sell you their item and then do major reconstructive surgry to match their apperance.<br /><br />Brings up a good point though, Jeff you should post a picture of the person next to their item on the website so that friends aren't using someone's item and telling coaches "Yup, I'm Bob."
