I just saw this magnetic wristband on Extreme Geek . Has anyone actually used one of those? I'm tempted to buy one, but I'm wondering how strong the magnetic field is.
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?

I don't think there are any metal in the tokens so they would not attached to the band

The center is metal.

I would not trust it either. I was not aware of the metal center. I now know and knowing is half the battle

It'd probably work just fine in general circumstances. What you have to watch out for is perpendicular force being applied and the token scrapes off.

Hmmmm.... I wonder if an electromagnet could be worked into the sliding table somehow? Perhaps a displacer beast or something else with weird abilities. Or a gelatinous cube that "captures" weapons until it's defeated.

I was thinking of a way to use that. Those are good ideas for capturing tokens.

Yes, the metal core is ferrus (will stick to magnets). I can say I have a couple of rare earth magnets that the tokens stick to really well, they will grab onto 10 or more if they get near a pile of tokens. If the magnet is strong enough, It should be safe for holding tokens.

The one caviat to this is the continuing issue we have with HP counters. The counters are magnetic and tend to walk, sticking to anything that will attract them better than the badge they are on. So the one drawback to the magnetic bracelet or even clothing with magnets to hold the tokens would be sticking to everying else you brush up against in the dungeon.

I thought Barry had a token on a wristband...not sure if it was magnetic now or not...

I've tinkered with different ideas including just having a magnet behind a sash like Binia makes - for added security!

I think there is something out there that could be quite cool to make/use. I just can't quite put a picture of what it is together in my head.
Yes I have several of those magnetic wristbands. Yes they hold tokens..... no I don't trust them to hold by themselves alone. ( I usually tuck mine under them till we're starting combat, and then I slide them out for easy access.)

They are Kinda nice... I don't use them for additional pilfering of rogue's boxes (though that can be done)

They don't contain the rare earth ones, so the Magnetic field isn't as strong.... I had no trouble with the HP counters.

I Have some rare earth magnets hidden in Other items, and it is possible to get 10 or more with one of those...so DM's are advised to keep an eye out when folks are pulling from boxes to be certain no shenanigans are afoot. (I was able in testing to get 17 in one shot, and keep them concealed)
