TOPIC: 2009 1C Morning Star Question

In our case, we only have one token of the M&P between the both of us.  Not because we've traded them all away, but because I wasn't involved at all in TD until last GenCon (has it been that short?) and my partner only has what tokens he pulled as treasure or received in his run pack back in '07.<br /><br />If there were an alternative from a year in which I was actually involved (i.e. '08 or '09), I would gladly do so as we're sure to hold onto things that we have multiples of.  Seeing that the 1C has an item that is 2 years OOP (even if it is/was a common), it worries me quite a bit as to what might be required when the long-awaited 4C is released!

I'm actually hoping that we see a formula soon for the 4C.<br /><br />Kim

<br />Wasn't the Purify Food and Drink token for a higher level combo token though?  I think the issue that people seem to have is that this is a 1C combo which should be the easiest to make for people.  So many people have turned in excess commons for trade items.<br />

<br /><br /><br />Yes, it was used in 2006 (the first year Combo's were introduced) for the 3C Periapt of Protection Against Poison. Which turned out to be a pretty crappy token (saves you a couple of Anti-toxins). It totally got wallpapered by the Medallion of Greyhawk (outright immunity to poison instead of a reroll, plus additional immunities and + HP). So nowadays, Periapts are only useful to collectors.<br /><br />But back in the day, when 3C was the hardest combo token to make (before 4C was really on the horizon), it seemed reasonable to make the 3C relatively challenging to create.

<br />Dave, one safe option for you to take would be to choose a common token that wasn't applicable to any Trade Tokens.  Maybe something like Belladonna, or 1 Day's Hard Rations?  <br />

<br /><br />Actually Mike, both of those were applicable to the new Darkwood Planks. There's a list of the 2009 tokens that count for the planks at the bottom of the Trade Item sticky.<br />

<br /><br />It looks like the only Commons not applicable to Trade Items are the Faerie Water (maybe an oversight, or just considered a potion), Masterwork Arrow (no trade in for ammunition yet), and the 3 save potions. I'm not entirely sure about the Fireseed Hollyberry. It has a damage wheel so may follow the general ruling of "damage wheel = weapon" for trade items. However, the Orb of Acid is listed as a Gear/Misc item by Dave, so it seems a little unclear.<br /><br />

<br /><br />no, thats the 7C <br />5C probably gets into the big trade-in stuff (aragonite, mithral bar, etc) + whatever 'little' stuff<br />and 6C will be the one that starts into requiring an UR
