TOPIC: 2009 1C Morning Star Question

Re: 2009 1C Morning Star Question 15 years 1 week ago #13

I am thinking about an alternative to the M&P, however I do know that many of the collectors have an abundance of them and would likely be willing to trade. I need to go throgh the lists and see what is available. One of the issues, however, is that many people have already turned in many of thier items from 2009 for Planks, so any 2009 I pick now will likely piss someone off as they had turned in a dozen or so to me already.

Dave, one safe option for you to take would be to choose a common token that wasn't applicable to any Trade Tokens. Maybe something like Belladonna, or 1 Day's Hard Rations?

Actually Mike, both of those were applicable to the new Darkwood Planks. There's a list of the 2009 tokens that count for the planks at the bottom of the Trade Item sticky.

One solution would to have an OR. For example:
Mortar and Pestle OR 5' Chain.

This would ameliorate the fact that some of us turned in a boat load of equipment for planks.

I think the argument is that some people might have liquidated all of their 5' Chains already, and would be upset that now those are usable for the Morning Star.

Maybe another alternative is that instead of using Mortar and Pestle, you can use 2 or 3 of this year's items. ANY items, rather than a specific one - that addresses concerns about just which one to choose. But by requiring 2 or 3, it still gives an advantage to Mortar and Pestle. Seems more appropriate for a 1C item.

Thanks! I haven't really looked at the items for each Trade Item. Were there any common tokens that aren't applicable to any Trade Items?

I'm paraphrasing (and perhaps bastardizing) but: "You can make a some people happy all of the time, or you can make everyone happy some of the time, but you can't make everyone happy all of the time."

I think the suggestion for an OR clause is a good one. I'm not sure what token(s) from 2008 would "make sense", but for 2009 tokens, I suggest the 5' Iron Chain and/or the 10' Wooden Pole.

And hey, if not, that's what the Token Trades and Sales sub-forum is for right? All those collectors can offer up extra M&Ps or if they prefer, ebay them.

We have had worse quests when it comes to a combo item...

Anyone remember having to find the Scroll of Purify food and drink?

I say let the ingredient list stand as is.

((perhaps a reminder to people that buy tokens...any token, any year, can be chosen by the archmage as an ingredient or payment for a combo item.))

Wasn't the Purify Food and Drink token for a higher level combo token though? I think the issue that people seem to have is that this is a 1C combo which should be the easiest to make for people. So many people have turned in excess commons for trade items.

Kim

Still...would you totally clear out all M&P tokens...it is CLEARLY an item that will be needed to make stuff.

Buyer - or in this case "traders" beware what you trade away!

I wouldn't clear out all of them, but when I looked last night at my tokens I had less of them than I thought I had. I had traded more in than I realized.

Kim

Spreadsheet inventory - it saves you from making too many trades and wiping out a decent personal supply.

Remember my caution about the hats...had to check numbers to be sure!

Now I might have sounded cold hearted earlier...but hey, it is just a game and trading en masse to the caravan is risky business...(I kinda enjoy it).

We all should know - M&P will be easy to get if they are needed...
