TOPIC: Ranger question

Rangers get two attacks, right?  So can a ranger attack with a sword in one hand and a thrown weapon in the other?  Just curious, thanks.<br /><br />Jennifer

Except that you are mixing up a melee and ranged attack...<br /><br />I would say you could use a spear one handed...but not throw it.<br /><br />I think saying that a Ranger can do Melee and Ranged in a single round is wrong, even with TD range rules...<br /><br />What range weapon were you thinking of using?

Thrown type weapons like the fireseed stuff or a tanglefoot bag or something like that?  I was just curious if the ranger was capable of this.  We have several of these types of tokens and we have not really used them heavily in the past.<br /><br />Jennifer

Well things like that could require some space to use fully...(I'm thinking net or TFBag...)<br /><br />I would argue some sort of space requirement and say that the Ranger needs to make either 1 ranged attack - or 2 melee attacks.<br /><br />You see, the principle behind 2 attacks is the Ranger DEX - (which is not as good as the thief, or even the monk - one could argue...but I digress...)<br /><br />The ranger does not get two BOW - or even two ranged TFBag attacks if they were at melee range.  Thus, I can't see them allowed to combo a melee attack and a range attack.

Can the ranger even use the net?

<br /><br />This is correct.  The two Daggers of Throwing are allowed since they can be used in that instance as melee weapons.

<br /><br />yeah, but their magical!<br /><br />Thanks for the answer Jeff.<br /><br />The thing is - the daggers (2) can also be used as a ranged weapon...are you saying the Ranger can only THROW 1 dagger EVER in a ranged attack?  I think Tony uses both in a single ranged attack, and I think it is catching on with others...
