It was easier than having to say "thneed" over and over this semester while talking about the Lorax.

I actually had a friend use the 'thneed' as an example of a widget during their economics (or was it marketing? That's the problem with a friend that holds advanced degrees in both) thesis. The point is, the Lorax rocks! Way to try to frighten the crap out of small children with strong ecology themes. It's like introducing them to the concept of contract killings via The Wizard of Oz!
