I used the link in the first post. It took me to the page for the cases, I placed an order, and it seemed to go through without any problems.

And today I received a confirmation of shipment for the cases. I'd say that is a good indication that they have some in stock. =D

Great! They just haven't seemed to update the page with all of the cases on it to include it.

Kim

Have you tried using the link in Gary's original post for this thread? It goes right to the web page for these cases. Saves you all that trouble of trying to find them on the company site, too! ;>

If anyone is going to buy these cases, try entering discount code CG10 during checkout. It's supposed to be good for 10% off. However, even though it was mailed with the order I received today, it has an expiration date of 5/8/2009. I don't know if it'll work on your order, but it's worth a try.
Arp - if that works, I wonder if CG50 would work too? :angel4:

And I was just looking at the web site, thinking - would these fit in a backpack? I wonder what the dimensions are? Then I remembered - they're *3* dimensional, of course!

Binia-
If that does work, I have a feeling a whole lot of those cases are going to sell very quickly! And if you want to express your appreciation to me for posting the first code, feel free to send tokens and/or GP my way. ;>

As to the dimensions of the cases: an individual case is 17" side-to-side, 16" front-to-back, and 3" high. I think the cases are bigger than most backpacks. You could probably carry one as a carry-on or personal item on an airplane.

But this is going to be a much better way to store my tokens than the ziplock-bags-in-a-box method I currently use. =D

BTW, I just ordered some of these today and the CG10 discount code was still working.

Anyone who wants to thank me for the 10% code can bring their appreciation by the Upper Deck booth at Gen Con! Look for the guy in the Indiana Jones hat.

On a more serious note, this case is very heavy once filled with tokens. I recommend caution when carrying it by the handle. It should still work as carry-on luggage, but it probably shouldn't go in the overhead compartment.

Addendum:
After using this case to carry tokens to and from Gen Con, I have more information to provide about these cases.
First, this case is very heavy when filled with tokens (about 31 pounds), and the handle tended to dig into my fingers.
Second, this case fits very nicely under the passenger seat in an airplane, but is too large to fit in the overhead compartment.
Third, it is not made to carry the weight of all these tokens, and that compromises it's protective abilities. I dropped mine while crossing the street; in addition to the dents that appeared in the aluminum case (aesthetically unpleasing, but the tokens stayed safe), one of the corners tore asunder. It seems the corners, where most cases will land if dropped, are chrome-colored plastic and not metal.

My final assessment of these cases is they make wonderful storage/organizational devices for TD tokens. However, they are not suitable to transporting large numbers of tokens, and a different case should be used for that purpose.

It's a shame we can't design our own token case. I bought a couple of the 1000 chip cases for storage of tokens at home and bought a 300 chip case to take to Gencon. It worked pretty well.

Kim

1000 Cases are in no way friendly for con...if you have a ton of trading planned - you may not have any other option...but I sure would never go to con with a 1000 case.

I pack a briefcase size locking case with 30 or so pages of tokens...and I load a shoulder strapped binder case with what I will need on a run.

Personally I think this is the way to go using 1000 cases for the hoard of "extra" tokens.
