If you do this please do not have them for sale in the exit room. The exit room is hard enough already trying to get everyone taken care of with xp and getting them out on time.

Kim

I guess you could have it in the entrance room, or even elsewhere and require a ticket be turned in to buy one. Or of course, let them be unlimited sales to all attendees, until supplies ran out.
Let's have some Retro 2003 unopened Treasure boxed kits for True Realm! =D

You know - that would be a GREAT True Realm exclusive, to bring people in to True Realm! Do a limited print run of wooden 2003 tokens (somehow marking the tokens that they are a new printing), sell them in the Treasure Token Kit boxes (again marked that they are a retro reprint), and ONLY offer them at True Realm!

Definitely limit the sale - you'd be bringing back some stuff that could be problematic - Elixir of Life at rare level again, for one thing. Also Hourglass of Answers, Wands of Cure Light, Detect Magic, Magic Missile, and Melf's Acid Arrow, all at rare level. And a few unusable weapons, if those are included in the print run. If you did a small run, maybe 2-3 of each rare, and limited quantities to individuals, it could be really fun. Definitely use wooden tokens!
Don't do it. It wouldn't be worth the cost. You'd lose any economy of scale with such a small run and I'm not sure that outside of a diehard few, the demand would be there. Most people much prefer chips to woods. Of course, most people don't have to schelp around 50 pounds worth of the damn things.

Yep, limiting the sales to one per dungeon run would keep them scarce and help encourage extra dungeon runs. They could be in sealed boxes, or just token bags. I don't know how much it would cost to make them, but as long as Jeff broke even on them, it might draw more people to True Realm or encourage people to do more runs. Jeff has the artwork now, all he needs to do is add some sort of "retro" marking.

I don't think the out of print tokens would throw the balance of the game off, because I think most of them would be kept as collector's items and not ever handed in.
Gonna agree with Henwy on this one, only appeals to a very small set of collectors.

I actually don't agree with this, I think most people (including Henwy) value the older wooden tokens. And to prove the point - I'll make the same offer I've made before - if anyone wants to swap wooden tokens (primarily 2003-2005a) for chip tokens, I will be VERY happy to trade them. Nathan - you are one of the people that did swap out wooden tokens for chip tokens, but if anyone else prefers chip tokens, let me know and we can do a trade. If anyone has those annoying wooden weapon tokens without a damage wheel, I'll happily swap multiple weapons with damage wheels for them. =)

And, it wouldn't just be the appeal of wooden tokens - it's also the appeal of several powerful out of print tokens in the set - like Elixer of Life, Hourglass of Answers, Staff of Cure Light Wounds, etc.

I already offloaded most of my woodies. I picked up heaps more at gencon though since most people were more than happy to get rid of them. I got a good rate on the exchange which is why it was worthwhile. The average TD'er doesn't want woods compared to chips. It's that simple. When the function and distribution is identical, the preference is clear. The only thing that drives collectors towards tokens is the unequal distribution at best. If I have 12 chip platemails and 6 wood platemails, trading what I have less of for what I have more of is just pointless. If I only had 1 platemail token of any sort, I'd prefer chip over wood.
