I DESPISE the Circlet of the Arch Druid CHARGE restrictions. Unless I'm missing something here, after 3 uses the UR is worthless. What a waste. I normally play the Druid in my parties and I will probably try and get one of these BUT NEVER USE IT!!!

Instead of destroying the UR, how about making it one use per adventure?

What am I missing here?

Only someone with an incredibly BIG budget would use one of these.

Want to purchase my UR potion of cure light wounds? Back from the days before the PYP and you could only get one from a '00 pack? No? Maybe it's time for perspective then.

I understand the old days, just wasn't playing then. People weren't probably buying as many tokens back then either. I didn't get the Elixir of Life or The Gem of Healing either for the same reason. I want the URs I get to stay around. If it needs to be less powerful or more restrictions(lower AC for example), then so be it.

Would you really want it if it was a once per dungeon but only had the damage wheel of the polymorph potion? Maybe it's just me, but I would want something that was actually useful even if it's limited, rather than something that wasn't better than what I had already.

It should be more than a potion, othewise just use the belt of retrieval and quaff it and attack. The questions is, in the polymorphed form do you really do more damage? Do any of your pluses stack (e.g., gauntlets, bull's strength)? You would certainly lose any pluses to hit (say from a +2 keen scimitar). Besides, I can't hit the 20.

I think you missed something. I wasn't saying it was a potion. I was saying if it had the damage wheel of the potion. As it stands, the transformation for the UR is a 9.5 average damage +10 on 20's. That's high even if all your equip is consumed in the change and doesn't provide bonuses. The alternative right now is, what?, the keen scimitar? 5.5 damage + keen. A druid is almost always going to be better off with the transformation. Compare that to the polymorph potion which has an average damage of 5.0. That's clearly substandard. Even wielding a common scimitar with a girdle and gauntlets beats that.

So, would you have something you could use at will but is numerically worthless, or something that exceeds the best the druid can achieve but only gets 3 shots?

When is the hat used? Does it have to be announced before the roll is made or is it retroactive? Most DM's don't pause between announcing who's being attacked and rolling the die. It's usually a simultaneous action. It's a huge difference in effect after all. Only one of which is actually useful.

The more I think about it, the more I think these +10 weapons are way overpowered. Assuming that 1 out of every 5 slides is a 20 is not excessive in my mind and gives us a good baseline to judge power. That basically means adding +2 to the average damage of the weapons. In the end, we'd have a sling that does a base damage of 6.5! This doesn't even take into consideration all the blasted sling stones that exist now. Compare it to the mighty longbow and as long as you're not a complete dunce at sliding, the bow loses out (5.5 + str which for most chars is only going to be +2 or so, +1 MW arrow). Add to that the sheer amount of people who can use a sling compared to a bow. A sling should not be the most potent range weapon out there.

And remember, all of this is based on sliding a 20 once out of every 5 attempts. There are plenty of us who can best this sort of average. I'm hardly the greatest slider in the world but even I was beating this average in my early TA rounds.

I think the bonus should either be removed or reduced at the minimum to something like 5 points for 20's. Frankly, a 4.5 average with all the extra damage stones and crap, seems already well enough. A +6 damage slingstone? Feh.

Now that we've made some comments, I think it might be useful for Jeff to know if you personally will increase, decrease, or stay the same in your TD purchases this year based on this list of tokens (well, really the ultrarares is what seems to count most).

I am definitely a small buyer compared with most on the boards, but I will stay the same.

With the Celestial Holy Long Sword+1, I know it gets an extra point of damage for being holy, but does it get another point for being Celestial or should it be changed to a +2 Holy long sword?

Assuming you are talking about the fire ring, I tend to agree. I would have preferred it as a single slot wizard only item with the burning hands. It is OK to make wizards immensely powerful with magic, they are still terribly vulnerable to direct attack.

I can only speak for my usual team- and we don't slide 20s that often. If someone does, we make sure to stay well away from knocking it out! How many people out there see multiple 20s in a single round of combat? (i.e. if you have 6 people sliding, even if they can hit 20s half of the time, really only one will likely get it- unless everyone is willing to risk knocking it out)
Legally... its questionable. Morally... its disgusting. Personally... I *like* it.
