TOPIC: Could 2009 be the year of reprint?

Re: Could 2009 be the year of reprint? 15 years 7 months ago #25

<br />Nicely said - as I noted, I prefer logic to prevail but sometimes you need to fix inconsistencies with editorial control. Logical shortcomings should not be allowed to hold things back. It is fantasy after all. <br />

<br /><br />Agreed, and normally I am a very logical person...but like you said it is fantasy, and it is in the interest of having fun...so I tend to get lost in the Magic!

It's easy to do that and it's more fun when you do. You can do alot with creativity and building a fantasy world where magic works in unreal but internally consistent ways. We see that in TV sci-fi and fantasy all of the time, and the better sci-fi and fantasy authors did exactly the same thing. I'm hoping to see that same process evolve in TD and I expect that it will.

Well Gary,<br /><br />      My cloak of displacement never collects dust. It's just way to useful for us fighter types. Not slingerettes! :bootyshake:

<br />Well being the one that said, "because it is magic" I have to say that in D&D - there is logic and there is magic...there is an opportunity to make the results exactly as you want them and bend logic...or there are opportunities to play it totally logical.  I'm taking the Kirk stance and letting Spock and Bones debate, while I just sit back and say, "Isn't it nice to have a mix of both!"<br />

<br /><br />[wearing a blue shirt instead of a red or gold one]  "Explain it... It's all magic and you can't explain magic. Darn it all, I'm a cleric not a DM."<br /><br />by the way, "He's dead Jim... you get the tricorder and I'll grab the tokens."

<br />Or you design the room to counter certain actions: the "silence" room...or even the "Key room" having the shere also be an anti-magic sphere...<br />

Then there becomes no point in producing specific tokens if you are going to negate them in rooms where they are useful.  Sure, they might be nice collectable tokens for some, but a lot of people buy tokens to use them, and if someone has a fly token and every time he could use it effectively he's told that "factor X" prevents him from using it he's going to start to get pissed off.

<br /><br />I've always wanted to own a grenade. I don't suppose you can sneak one out of the base for me or something?

<br /><br />Sorry Henwy.  I think something about having to live in a very small room for 20 years in Leavenworth, Kansas without TD (or much of anything else for that fact) is a big discouragement to trying to supply any "surplus gov't property" to anyone.

I'll give you my Horn of Plenty and Amulet of Wonder for a grenade.  That should make the 20 years easier to handle, right?

<br /><br />Psst... Glendavar, trade him a 'pineapple' - tell him it's an EXTRA-LARGE grenade, and the only way to get it to work is to pull out all the green stuff on the one end.  But I'd make him throw in a Savior Stone also, for such a splendid device.<br />

:jacked:<br />...of course, I do have one grenade that is not gov't surplus.  I carried with me on my run this year =D.  It came from Bro. Maynard!  I was going to throw it at Iuz, but we killed him before I could count to 5, I mean 3.
