I noticed after INDY this year that scotch tape does not easily come off the token pages...quite a mess! Thanks for the warning!

I think I will try and make folders for 10 chars and see how that goes. I know I can't outfit all 10 perfectly, but it will be a fun exercise none-the-less.

G

I would love to see Jeff get Larry Elmore to do an illistration for a special chip this next year. Maybe make it an ultra rare. Since d & d and Elmore have always been associated. Not to mention the collectors value.
We did the binders for a couple of years, the first year everyone had their own. But the fighter-types complained the binders were too bulky the first year. So the second year we had only the casters carrying binders for themselves and one fighter type holding tokens for the combat sliders. and while this worked well, there was serious discussion of finding a way to get rid of these. So a combined solution was reached. First we invested in Binia's Token Sashes. These hold 15 tokens very well, so we chose to use these for our non-healing consumables and common gear. Everyone had a bag with their individual healing in it, that went into one of their pockets. Weapons and ammo went into a different pocket. So now it came down to what to do for our "permanent" items like armor, cloaks, gloves, rings, etc. The solution was a rather creative one by our Ranger.
First we got the following ingredients
14 x Transparent Pen holders for binders from Staples - Now I have combed their website to the best of my search-fu and cannot find them. But its like a pouch to hold pens and junk that you would put in a binder. The nice things is these are transparent on both sides and have a nice zipper to close the bag (not that cheap ziploc kinda storage). They come in these gosh-aweful flourescent colors, but they work great. Well when I got home I did a search for them and still did not find them on their website, but its Item# 206193 and is called a Clear pencil case. But do NOT get the mesh ones they sell online.
A hot glue gun. Nothing too fancy here.
Xacto Knife
Metal Ruler
Sharpie Pen, normal width.
And because we were paranoid a bedazzler to drop in some rivets (yes, I know, they took away my man card when I got this)

First we took one holder and cut out all its plastic to begin with. We then cut this plastic into strips, about 1/2" wide width wise (so not the long edge but the short edge).

So how we built our holders:
1) Measure across the holder and divided it into 5 equal areas (so 4 lines were drawn with the sharpie).
2) Unzip the pouch and then place the metal ruler inside the pouch.
3) Cut out where you had drawn the line, but leave a 1/2" of plastic from either end (so don't cut from fabric to fabric but leave some plastic on there).
4) Then after all the slits are cut, closed the pouch.
5) Now using the glue gun lay down a bead of hot glue through the slit and pressed one of the plastic strips perpared earlier over it. This now creates a divider within the pouch.
6) Let cool.
7) Using the beadazzler, on the side opposite of the strip you placed in step 5, above each glue seam you created, plop in a plain metal rivet, or if you want to go all shiney use a gem, etiher case this reinforces the seam where it will see the most use.

now once we had built these we loaded them up with all the static items we planned on taking into the dungeon. so the wear and tear on the seams is minimized as the items in the pouch do not undergo lots of changing except during the acquistion of cool new tokens.

So the next part was hanging them about our body. We got some clip lanyards and tied two of them together ( http://www.lanyardsupply.com/lanyards/plain-lanyards-ly401-14.htm ) and clipped them on to our holders using the already handy binder grommets that the bags had.

So when we entered the dungeon we had over one shoulder our kit bag, the other the sash. Our saving throws on stickers put on our badge holders. Our sash of critical consumables. Weapons in one pocket, healing in another.
Our ranger, rogue, fighter, and paladin were ecstatic with this change as it left them both hands free. The Cleric and Druid liked the fact that this change meant they were carrying only 2 or three of non healing scrolls so their load got lighter. As for the mage, well this year we still had her carry a book, as there are so many scrolls for her to use, but we are already looking at a way to thin her token list down so she too can enjoy the dungeon binder free. As for the Bard, well, he just took everything that didnt fit in one of the above categories and stuffed them in his third, fourth and fifth pockets because brought a fishing (or was it photo) vest.

When we went with the binder, even the simple plastic folder with the token sheets, because we found, like you, that tape was really not a good way to secure our tokens, when they were left open they tended to fall out.
But as you said, each to their own.

Oooh, I like that pencil case idea! I might be trying to make some for my group.

The packing tape worked great. No tokens fell out this year (2runs, 8 folders).

The finished product

Very nice!! You could actually have sewn up the dividing seams on a sewing machine very quickly, rather than messing around with hot glue. Seems like I always burn myself when I work with that stuff...
