TOPIC: Bracelet of the Zephyr - Spells only or Scrolls and Spells

Question on the Bracelet of the Zephyr (this is carried over from the Sigh... thread  under Token Trades that may escape your Notice) there has been three different wordings on this combo item from 2008<br /><br />(From the combo token recipe thread truedungeon.com/trueforum/index.php?topic=3954.0 <br /><br />3C - Bracelets of the Zephyer - When worn, allows a spell caster to cast two spells in one round (useable once per room), the spells may be memorized or from scrolls (scrolls must still be turned in)  NOTE: this will not stack with a belt of retrieval.<br /><br />The token guide says spells only on page 60<br />'Wearing this pair of bracelets allows a spell caster, once per combat, to cast an additional spell within the combat  round as a free action. Note: only one free action is allowed per combat round.'<br /><br />which is slightly different from the wording on page 33<br /><br />'Wearing this pair of bracelets allows a spell caster, once per combat, to immediately cast an additional unused spell within the combat round as a free action. Note: only one free action is allowed per combat round.'<br /><br />To avoid turning the Token Guide Errata Thread into a polling location about this matter, I have created the poll here to enable a separate, and healthy, discussion on whether or not the Bracelet should or should not work for scrolls.

Since we concluded that it will not cause an imbalance in the game, and because I vote for wizards becoming more powerful at a greater rate as their levels advance, it seems reasonable that the zephyr should work with scrolls as well. Of course an alternative is to give wizards more memorized spells and at lower levels, and make scrolls less common and less used in the dungeon. With the large amount of scrolls in circulation and the fact that you don't have to slide usually to use them, it should be expected that lots of people would favor their use as the game is set up now.

How many times does this need to be transplanted? Just give dave a few days to talk it out with Jeff and see what happens.

Well the reason I transplanted it here was two fold.  One, its existence in the Sigh... thread was invisible to Dave who is extremely busy, based on the original purpose of the Sigh thread.    Then once it got on the Token Guide errata thread I did not want to make that thread turn into a poll as it appears this subject is one that can be easily and openly discussed, so I created its own thread.  So purpose, give this subject its own space and not clutter up threads with other purposes on this matter.

I guess that would make sense if Dave hadn't already acknowledged the topic and said he would discuss it with Jeff.

True, but people still kept posting their opinions on the Errata thread after Dave said that (bpsymington and others), so as to spare the Errata thread further comments, I moved the subject outside to its own thread.

I voted for Krom just so you wouldn't be alone.  =)<br /><br />(Also because I have no strong feelings one way or another...working with scrolls would be good, but it's still good if it's only good for spells)

Ya, I don't really mind either way.  I like my heavy hitting classes.

Another school of thought:  <br /><br />Can you cast a scroll and then have your second spell be off the card?  Since the "extra" spell would be memorized.
