What ever winds up on the tokens is what Jeff wanted, it doesn't necessarily have to make sense.

No problem, but then DMs should really know the exceptions. Shocking Grasp requires a to-hit, Burning Hands hurts 2 opponents, Mage Armor does not stack with regular armor. These three scrolls alone I saw DMs not interpreting them as they are written in the Guide. Now in all these cases it was to the players benefit. It has been said time and again, the game should be semi-intuitive to the new player as well as those who are old hat. Since each year we are doing new token and new token guides, why not line the two up.

The Mage Armor ruling is pretty well known, the other two less so.
Ring of Wizardry: In the new guide it says that it adds 2 to damage which doubles to 4 on a hit. It does not say anything about adding 2 to hit though.

I know I said something similar to this about the Scorching ray, but the same text problem exists with Scroll: Flame Arrow
Page 37

Flame Arrow: ...This spell is not augmented by the Wizards skill's test, how ever Dexterity bonuses, such as that from Bracers of Archery, do apply.

First, Bracers of Archery do not grant Dexterity bonuses. So it should either be Dexterity bonuses, such as from Gloves of Dexterity, do apply. OR Damage Bonuses, such as that from Bracers of Archery, do apply.

Also should not the text be the same for Both the Flame Arrow and the Scorching ray?

Bracers of Archery: (pg33) ...It does not add damage to any scrolls or spells that have missle-like effects.

Page 33 last paragraph on the page: Scrolls that cause a ranged weapon to be created and hurled toward the enemy (specifically Melfs Acid Arrow and Flame Arrow) fall under the same rules as ranged weapons in combat.

Scroll: Melf's Acid Arrow (pg 35): ...Bracers of Archery and Dexterity Bonuses apply to the attempt.

I am thinking there is some discrepencies here. Either the Bracers are right and the Paragraph on Page 33 needs to go away and the description of Melfs needs to be changed. Or the braces are wrong at which point the text of Flame Arrow needs to be similar to Melfs.

If the Bracers are Wrong the next question is does it stack with the effects of the Ring of Wizardry (which impacts any spells (and perhaps scrolls?) that requires a slide) when it comes to Scroll: Melf's Acid Arrow.

Page 7 of Token Guide:

The following tokens are considered one-time use items that must be turned into the DM or Coach when used in the game:

Need to add:
Masterwork Sling Bullet
Sling Bullet of Impact
Bolt of Lightning
Hourglass of Imprisonment
Savior Stone
Rations
Salves
Oils
Elixers
Tanglefoot Bag

(The reason to note the salves, oils, and Elixers is now that the Belt of Retrieval is very, very specific it only works on Potions we need to ensure the rules lawyers have no loop holes).

I mean all of these are fairly evident that they should be consumed but its good to have where the guide is specific, to be specific for all such items.

Agred,
and thank you for the detailed review.

In addition, thank you to all who take the time to point things out. After awhile to me everything looks like a forest, or trees, depending on the perspective of the day.

Dave

Page 5
Troll Hide Armor is missing from the following classes (though this one might have already been pointed out): Druid, Barbarian, and Ranger, all the other classes that matter can already wear it. Also add it to the list below the classes.

Page 5:

Wizard

s/b

Wizard
To be the same format as the rest of the classes

Page 6
NOTE: The following weapons are two-handed....
This list is missing the Scythe.

Personally I think both the Bracers of Archery and Ring of Wizardry should apply to both spells and scrolls. They help but are still limited enough in use/benefit to not have a huge impact.

Speaking of controversy, has Jeff or Dave issued a ruling on the Bracelets issue?
