TOPIC: Horn of Plenty Offer

Horn of Plenty Offer 16 years 10 months ago #1

All,

I'm interested in trading for a Horn of Plenty, so I'll offer a Ring of Focus in a straight trade for it. The Ring of Focus is worth 2300 GP per the Price Guide, and the Horn of Plenty is worth 1750 GP, so I'll give the first person to respond a great deal of 550 GP trade advantage =D

Thanks!
Mike

I'd be tempted, but I want the extra tokens from the dungeon!

You think Douglas likes the ring? ;)

I think Douglas likes the Ring a lot, but I think he already has a Ring of Focus.

I think the Ring of Focus is a must-have for every party, as it results in maybe 12 points of extra healing every dungeon and 5 points of extra damage every dungeon. I picked a Ring of Focus as one of my Ultra-Rare picks when I bought tokens, and I'll never trade it. I'm only trading this because I got a double in a "00" bag, and there's no need for two.

I think a lot of the calculus comes into what we think will be discontinued next year and how chagrined we would be if we didn't have one when it went. I actually chose 2 HoP's because I made the wager that it would go the way of the dodo after this year. I have no solid information to back that up but I figure it's an educated guess. More token pulls just means more whozits have to be funned into the treasure boxes. This becomes ecspecially problematic when you have to stock the boxes with things like ingredients and the like. We've already seen Jeff and Dave mention the problems with getting additional tokens printed up. So my gamble was that the HoP would go poof and shoot up in value.

Yup, I have a Ring of Focus. :)

By the way, everyone should keep in mind that the "current" Price Guide was not based on actual trade data. Rather, it was the average of several opinions on the value of tokens. Trades are flowing in and have already affected the prices, most notably with the URs.

Stay tuned.

I wouldn't trade a Horn of Plenty for two Rings of Focus...

I'm eager to see the new price guide with actual trade-based values.

Douglas, is there any chance you could include values for older tokens (+2 Great Sword) vs. their new counterparts (+2 Holy Great Sword), plus older OOP tokens?

Thanks for your work on the token price guide!
I'll trade a Horn of plenty for a +2 Holy Sword and Mithral Chain...

Pffft. I don't think many people would turn that one down. I'm not nearly as avarious. The chain and flaming shortbow or ioun stone would do it :P.

Gary, I'll take you up on that offer :P

(Thanks to Frank for pointing this old thread out, I'd forgotten about it. My, how times (and token values) have changed) :)

For one day only, we're rolling prices back half-a-decade to the groovin' year of 2007! Ice cream cost a nickel! Movies a farthing! And HoPs grew on trees!
