Players who reach 9th level will see this token appear in their shopping selection -- just like the 5th level Medallions of Nobility do. The dimples you see will be replaced by stars around the token edge.

These cannot be sold or lent out to others. It has a very small in-game benefit, but I thought it would be nice to give that to such long-time players.

I assume this means you are a permanent member of the Adventurer's Guild, even without a badge from the current year?

Thanks Jeff, looks great, but it will be a while until I'm there :)

I really like the artwork on the badge, it will be a few years until I get there though.

Sorry, yes...just present your token to use the bag check (and anything else we come up with in the future).

my last run of 2020 I qualify, so 2021 here I come!

really cool token mate.

a quick question, with all the new backs and things, what kind of backing will it have?

the UR year you qualify? a standard year you qualify?

Should we try to model the max number of 9th level players there will be in the next few years (assuming we stick to 4000 XP per year and that everyone gets that amount):

2016: 12 players
2017: 12 + 18 = 30 players
2018: 30 + 22 = 52 players
2019: 52 + 35 = 87 players
....

As long as bag check can accommodate the ever-increasing number of players with free access, I guess that is okay.

We do break the traditional rule that "XP doesn't lead to in-game benefits" though you could technically argue that the XP simply gives you the token and it is the token that gives you the in-game benefit of +1 AC.

Also, looking at the list of top players we have:

JimC: Passed away
Helene: Moved to Oceania
Roarry & Ju-Lu Kuo: Retired from TD
Widseth: Retired from TD
Carole Bland: Retired from TD

Anyone else?

2021 for me.
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

That is a good point, Jeff might want to consider if he can handle the number of players that will want a bag check.

The number probably won't be as high as you're estimating though. Out of those 87 in 2019, some percentage of them probably won't get max XP between now and then. Out of the ones that do, some percentage of them will likely never send in for the award token. Out of the ones that do, some percentage of them will lose the token or not bring it to GENCON with them. And out of the ones that bring it to GENCON, not all of them will want to do a Bag Check. And even for the people that do a Bag Check, they won't all be doing it at the same time. Maybe only a small percentage of them will be doing it at the same time.

Your point though is very valid. The number of bag checks should grow over time, and it is worth considering if eventually the number of people that do bag checks via this token combined with the Adventurer's Guild tokens will exceed capacity. The capacity might be pretty high though, you can probably shove a whole lot of bags in a room. :)
