TOPIC: Web Token Feedback Needed!

Re: Web Token Feedback Needed! 14 years 6 months ago #25

If the tokens are made a different color- not gold or silver, the would be visible to folks handling the shrink-wrapped units of 10 packs... would this cause an issue? (akin to the way one could "cherry pick" packs of collectable trading cards back in the day)

The Web token will always be on the bottom of the stack so that its contents are not visible.

Will there be a computer available in the player coach area for players to look up their rumor/lore tokens? How much time will this take up from the indoctrination/training time? Does anyone else feel that the presence of a computer in the training area may kill the ambiance of True Dungeon?

An alternative might be to have a "sage" set up... who can look up the codes on a cheat sheet and tell the players the rumor or show them the lore item/picture in a more roleplay friendly way.

How the Web tokens will work at the event are not final yet. Probably the only way to use them is to go into the Tavern/Courtyard BEFORE your event and redeem them at an NPC who will look at the name on them and tell you the corresponding rumor. More info later.
Only request is that visiting "real world" locations won't be too necessary to solve clues - I don't think I could make it out there from here too often!

Maybe the 'real world' locations are in SoCal?

I also vote for copper. It fits within the theme.

I'll throw in my two cents and vote for copper, too.

It would be good if people could do it in the Training Room or the Coaching Room, that way players that only have their initial bag of tokens would be able to redeem their single Rumor/Lore token from their token bag for the adventure. They might not even realize they are supposed to redeem it, the Coach or Training Room DM might have to prompt them to do so.

Also - when you say "redeem" - do they have to actually turn the token in, or just show the token to get the clue and then keep it?

We are toying around with the idea of making the event listed as a 2.5 hour event...that way people show up 30 minutes early for adventure, get their tokens, and then have 30 minutes to explore the Tavern and Courtyard. This won't be easy to pull off, but I think we have figured out a way to reduce the chance of people getting lost.

And the token would have to be turned in onsite to get a rumor back...just like with the old Rumor tokens.

If you did that would you allow late commers up to 25mins or so? since they won't have actually entered the dungeon yet?
Sweet a combat room, we won't take damage!

I imagine the policy will be the same as always. If you don't show, they'll try to sell the ticket to someone else. If you're amazingly lucky and no one has snatched up the slot by the time you meander in, and assuming the group isn't already in the dungeon, you can probably hop on in. Chances are someone else will have already bought the slot and you'll be SOL.

I like the idea of the extra time.

Will the old rumor tokens be able to be used for anything with the new system?

Jennifer

You can turn them in onsite at Gen Con, but they won't work in March on the website.
