TOPIC: Suggestions for website organization

Suggestions for website organization 10 years 2 months ago #1

The website looks fantastic, and is an amazing resource. However, I have some organizational suggestions.

A good example is the "Tokens" page, where on the right side there is a long list of links. I fear this is intimidating to newbies, and frankly even as someone who's been using the website for 4 years I still find it confusing at times.

For example, the first five options are:

The 2014 Token Collection
Online Token Database
2014 Quick Token Reference
2014 Token Guide
2014 Trade Token Guide

This seems redundant. A new player is likely to ask "aren't those all the same thing?" And even though I now know the differences, this list is a bit unwieldy - especially since some of those links only lead to a single paragraph and download link.

Could some of these be combined? For example, the 2014 Quick Token Reference and the 2014 Trade Token Guide pages could be easily removed, and the corresponding paragraphs and download links placed in the overall "2014 Token Collection" page. I think it would make things easier to have all the 2014-specific resources on a single page.

(As an aside, I would prefer not have a separate trade token guide and just include all that info in the quick token reference, like the printed versions are done. This may mean delaying the yearly quick token reference until that year's transmute recipes are finalized, but I'm fine with that.)

I also recommend changing the name of the "2014 Token Guide" to something more distinctive and descriptive, such as "Master Token Guide (2003-2014)" or something similar.

So, maybe the first five options of that menu can just be replaced with:

The 2014 Token Collection
Master Token Guide (2003-2014)
Online Token Database

Similarly, I think all the pages related to token exchange (general exchange info, trade redemption, reserve exchange, transmuted redemption) could probably be streamlined into just one or two pages.

And I'm not really sure what the difference is between the all-year Token Guide, and the Token Yearbook, other than being organized differently.

I could make other suggestions, but overall I think there are too many pages on similar topics, and too many booklets. It was all confusing to me as a newbie 4 years ago, and it's still a bit cumbersome to me now. I think there's room for streamlining. :)

Let's start by getting things updated:

truedungeon.com/how-to-play/item/78-2013eventintro
truedungeon.com/how-to-play/item/45-special-rules
truedungeon.com/how-to-play (everything references 2013)

there are others. Is there going to be another novella this year?
