Is the sudden onslaught of spam related to the recent website difficulties or is it just Lazlo's fault ?

We have looked into the situation, and the spammers told it was, in fact, Lazlo's taunting that brought us to their attention.

Thanks a bunch Lazlo!

Seriously, we are making adjustments to the security on the forum. Thanks for your patience.

What the heck is the point of the spamming? Does anyone actually follow those links or look at those messages? This is why Jeff should put some cruise missile launchers in that warehouse, or at least some sort of EMP weapon.

At least they were kind enough to put them in Off Topic.

But are they really off topic?

Those cheap, knock-off hand bags might make good token holders...

But maybe you'd want to be in the group right after a group using these cheap bags as token holders ;)

Sadly (and stunningly) yes. About 1% of the people who get spam actually click the links and/or get suckered into buying their crap. And that's plenty to keep the spammers spamming.

I THINK we have a stop-gap measure in place for now. We should be good until a permanent solution can be found.

Now...let's all go find Lazlo and give him a wet-willie!
